conspiracy theorists?
Fight! Fight! Fight!
here we go again cap 4 kcu player sent for calling wainui player a monkey,
unbelievable
So the conclusions that I can draw from the suspension handed down are that to make monkey noises, not particularly directed at anyone, is worth a lot more (suspension wise) than actually calling a referee a bad name.
Doesn't make a lot of sense, but then, a lot hasn't lately
I would think so. Racial connotations are far worse than calling someone a c*nt because that's not overly hurtful.

Had to lol at this - Capital football saying it MUST follow the rules
"The rules on suspensions were set out by international body FIFA, and Capital Football had no option but to act on referees' reports, its chief executive Richard Reid said.
An automatic suspension of a minimum of five games was what Capital Football was bound to give the Kapiti player, he said.
"We are not the judge and jury. The ref is the sole judge of law.
"We've got rules we must follow. Whether the rules are right or wrong is not the point.""
Does open up some interesting questions though - if the ref is infallible: does that then bring another level in about ref abilities etc?
Capital Football claim they need to act on the report of the referee. This is inconsistent with an incident last season where they ignored the report of the ref and instead acted on the furore caused by the media report of a dopey journalist. Capital Football need to be consistent with these incidents. In the case of the Wellington United player being cleared of racist abuse ( which must not be condoned) then he should receive the same treatment as any other player committing the same or similar offence....if one took place. If the lad has done nothing wrong, he should not receive any sanction.
I have no knowledge of the Wellington United game in question but am disappointed in the action by CF according to their media response.
So the story about the incident at Newtown Park has been explained in the article above.
Is that enough or do people still think 'he had to have racist intent" etc etc?
A racism incident that hit headlines last month was another misunderstanding. A Wellington United player was banned for 10 games for making monkey noises, supposedly towards an African player from Kapiti Coast United.
The player had since been cleared of any racist intent, Wellington United chairman Anthony Mumby said.
The game had been played at Newtown Park, next to the zoo, and the player was simply mimicking the monkeys who could clearly be heard, Mumby said.
A tribunal cleared the player after it was pointed out he was 60 metres away from his opponent, and running in the opposite direction. "The player was not a racist. We wanted to clear the club's name, and the player's name."
However, the player's suspension was only reduced from 10 to eight games, Mumby said. The player was so upset by being thought a racist, he had decided not to play again this season.
"He's just lost the taste for the game."
Its ridiculous that he got 8 games for mimicking zoo animals, but only 2 games for racism (which he was then cleared of).
5 game ban for a Kapiti player using the word "monkey" in a non racist way.
Is there any other animals that we aren't allowed to mention during a game? I just don't want to accidentally get in any sort of trouble with capital football.
To be fair, monkey is a pretty stupid word to use knowing the other meaning around it... If you do use it then you probably deserve what you get for stupidity alone

The word rapist alone does not cause the same offence as other racially charged words.
My mind is officially full of fuck. Somebody please explain this to me:
Player gets sent for racism. CF later clear player of racism. Player still gets 8 games.
So what is the 8 games for? If he's been found innocent? I thought a red card was 1 week suspension? And if successfully appealed, potentially nothing.
It's like being wrongly trialled for rape (since we're on topic), being found not guilty, but still being sent to prison for 8 of the 10 years you were originally going to serve if guilty.
I know CF aren't perfect but I do read these threads sometimes and think why are they even having to deal with half of this shit?
The fact is that when these type of incidents occur the evidence that gets to CF is mostly hearsay and it's unreasonable to expect them to consistently come to the "right" decision.
The best solution will always be for people to not act like twats in the first place and therefore not put their fate in CFs hands.
I don't care about whether they are right or wrong in guessing as to the players intentions of racism.
What many disagree with is the punishments attached to each type of offence - regardless of which one they choose!!
The point is. Racism is a big deal. then they belittle it by dropping a 10 game to an 8 game to represent the racial component. So 8 games for someone getting called a animal in a 'nonracist' way (whether or not they have it correct I don't care), and only TWO for the racist component?!!

Racist.
The report is strange. One player got a red for "violent conduct", two games off and $100 fine for a punch? That's exactly the same as I got once for pushing someone over who pushed me first. Seems pretty weak.
In last week's AFF Division 1 tie between Ellerslie and Manukau City, the Manukau goalkeeper was actually arrested at the ground for acts of extreme violence. Don't know many more details, but when we played MCAFC this week, they casually mentioned that "we've lost our goalkeeper for the season".

Expect this on Stuff in a couple of hours ...
or in the Herald never....
Is this true? You have incurred 8 yellow cards in the season and there are four games to go.
In the first half of your next game you get a yellow. That's now 9 for the season. Automatic
suspension of THREE weeks. But you play on a get another yellow.... that means a red and
one more week off, total now FOUR weeks. But hold on. The regs say that upon receiving a
second yellow in a match, both yellows are rescinded and you only get the red = ONE week.
So you can play the last three games -- just be careful not to get a new 9th yellow which would
rule you out for this season and maybe a game or two next year.
That's correct, so that's a bloody good point. Rewarded for getting a second yellow in a game.
can someone pls do this. A good way of getting a second yelllow on purpose is to charge down a free kick early and smash it into the bushes - brings the lols.
And the doom has got wind of it....

Under FIFA rules the referee report is taken as accurate unless there is proof of an inaccuracy - Article 98 FIFA Disciplinary Code. so no the referee is not infallible just that the burden of proof rests with those on the wrong side of the referee's report
so was at a Junior game on Friday night at Wakefield park (14th grade) and two parents had a go at each other... I just saw the afters as I was there to watch the game - but an Olympic supporter (and/or father) head butted another Olympic guy. Then punches were thrown until they were held back from each other. The police were then called! Maybe parents should watch a live screening of the game somewhere out of view and earshot of the children... It was ridiculous!

Fisty Cuffs at Wakefield Park on Staurday. Island Bay v Wainui Under 14's (approx). During the game a Melee broke out not quite sure what happened but after the game as the teams were walking off an Island Bay player sucker punched a Wainui Player right in the kisser. No official ref in attendance. Wonder if any action will follow?

Just wondered why you thought it appropriate to report (inaccurately) the incident that's all.
