Why do you ask?

Just wondered why you thought it appropriate to report (inaccurately) the incident that's all.

So An Island Bay player didn't punch a Wainui Player after the game had finished ? Do you want me to say, word for word what one of the Island Bay Cap 1 players came over and said to the Parent of the IB player involved?

I'd rather you didn't bother at all. If you have genuine concerns there are avenues available to raise them.

Never said that. Just don't believe your post achieves much. The clubs are in contact with each other. Capital Football have been notified. Terrible incident being dealt with. Spreading partly incorrect report of the game from stuff you heard doesn't achieve anything.

you just needed to say that in the first place instead of basically calling me a liar.

Shark happens , it is how it is dealt with that matters. That was all I asked in the first post

sweeping shark under the carpet will not help solve the problem.

being open and accepting there is a problem and explaining/talking about the process to be put in place to help solve it and address any further similar problems allows others not directly involved  to feel that there is light at the end to the tunnel to a better world being created for all in the football world.

Rugby had a similar issue last year and didn't do a too a bad job of being forth coming of there problems at the grass root area.

FIFA and the corruption cover ups have exposed the need for more transparent and open governance in regards to all matters hence there new policy directions which should of been integrated  over 2015/2016 but is still being resisted by many in the game's world and local governance for some reason.

good or bad lets not hide the bad and only show and talk about the good as this paint's a false picture that can cause bigger problems down the track.

so energy24.7 where you there?

if so put your eye witness report of what happened to correct the statement made but don't call someone else a lier and try and hide what happened…….

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

who cares what clubs were involved? There are hundreds of kids who play on Wakefield every weekend. If it was just a lone junior player in a lone incident - then there is nothing his club could have done before the fact.

Setting aside the accuracy question, it is very appropriate to report this sort of incident.

Or do you think that football at Wakefield Park should operate under some sort of Kim Jong Un style "approved messages only" system? Are you a contender for the next CEO of NZF?

Also its a thread called Fight Fight Fight????? Surely this is where it should be reported? If you had such an issue with reporting of it why would you look at a thread that would actively aggravate you? I tend to avoid threads that I have no interest in or aggravate me.

Accuracy is kind of important so not sure you can set it aside.

If he wanted the incident reported there are avenues available for that. Is it really beneficial reporting it here and not to either of the clubs or Capital Football?

ok. That is now the third time you have effectively  accused me of making this up? Tell me where what happened is fundamentally different to what I have described?

As for reporting it your club seems to have that well under control which was the question I asked in the first instance.

You have my version of events. If I am so terribly wrong perhaps you can elaborate on what I apparently did not see or hear?

I dont follow your reasoning sorry. It is relevant when they are wearing club gear.

Your line of reasoning also would mean club names should be deleted from pretty well everyone discussion in this thread

You are (deliberately, perhaps) misrepresenting what I said.

You said (effectively) that this wasn't a subject that should be discussed in public. That it was only for chat behind closed doors in "the process" (whatever that is).

My point was that it is newsworthy. It is something that should be discussed.

I said "setting aside accuracy" because that was a secondary issue to your main point: that this should not be talked about. You questioned the motivation of people posting about and the value of discussing this incident at all.

I had nothing to contribute to the accuracy point, so I set it aside. I didn't see the incident, and don't know any of the people involved.

If there are questions about the correctness of the report, then for sure they are important and we should discuss them. But we shouldn't shut down the discussion just because there are two sides to the story.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Because the club can make a public stand on this, which can then encourage open discussion, and can hopefully serve as a deterrent for this kind of thing to happen again.

My sister-in-law, playing for Mt Albert v Tuakau in the AFF Div 4, has cracked ribs after a headbutt and a punch to the guts from an opposing player on Sunday. Bloody savages down there in the Franklin.

Hope she comes right soon, that sucks. Do you get proper referees at that level or is it the volunteer/coach referee level?

I don't know the details because SiL is on too many pain meds, but you will basically NEVER get proper refs at Div 4, which is one reason I  make the effort to play ay a higher level. Though occasionally they don't turn up even at Conference Reserves.

Sorry to hear that. One of the reasons I gave up playing social football myself and moved into coaching was couldn't take anymore injuries.

Not everyone in Franklin is a savage. Just saying. Maybe it's just a Tuakau thing?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

In my experience, the Waiuku ladies can also be somewhat, er, agricultural. I got the most aggressive sledging of my life there. No complaints about Pukekohe ladies, though - that'll be big-city sophistication.

I can't remember the last time I played on a team where someone cracked an opponent's ribs with a punch, if that's what you're asking. I've been sent off for clumsy takings out of strikers but again, not in the same league. That Manukau City guy who broke a ref's jaw got a 5 year ban, so I think this lady should be looking at not playing again until 2019 at least.

yet a player assaulted another player in a cap 9 game and has already served their suspension.

Allegedly

I do find it weird that the minimum suspension for spitting at a ref is twice as long as for assaulting a ref. That seems a bit backwards to me.

(and to be fair, I've probably deserved to be assaulted after some of the shark games I've had in the middle hah)

The only problem with the 12-month 6-month thing is that assaulting the ref should be minimum 12-months.

If the cap 9 player did assault someone then that is a disgrace.

Odd that they show it as a minimum. Experience is that the ban would range from 5 years to lifetime

I quite like what i heard a ref say at the weekend to a spectator who was yelling "that was a terrible decision ref" - "don't worry, i've made much worse decisions than that one".

I'm guessing the lower minimum might be because assault could cover anything from a slight push to being whacked with a baseball bat, whereas spitting at a ref is spitting at a ref.
