Yeah Hard News, lighten up.

What's the big deal if a local club wants to pay a single player around $4,000 per season to play for them?

I mean, it's not like Island Bay are offering those sorts of sums to players while also receiving any funding from gaming trusts because that would be like totally f**king unethical, right?

Dale the Whale and I donated 20 dollars each to Island Bay tonight to help fund their U19s.

Or, rather, to cover 1% of Dauniseka's wages.

I think when you put it in that context - not enough money for U19s, but enough to play some chump - then club administrators should take a hard look at themselves.

By the way this IS NOT a dig at IBU who are only doing what most others are doing.  Just a dig at the general "vibe" of the thing.

Isnt the allegations of match fixing more worrying than the issue of player payments here?

Is there any evidence of the match fixing allegation

no evidence of the allegation, but alot of the player payment rumours discussed on here are just allegations.

I don't see how one player can fix a game without it being completely obvious.

I would also like to know more.

Fuck this stupid game

Agree.

And these are the same club administrators who will happily put the boot into Capital Football over every f**king little thing (some of it deserved, admittedly) but who are collectively perpetrating probably the single biggest issue facing the local game - payments to players and the detrimental effect this diversion of precious funding is having on the development of the game as a whole.

How big is the problem? No one knows because nobody wants to come clean and just admit how much they are paying out.

But we've been through all this before. You can all stick your heads back in the sand now...

The Sound of Silence

Typical. Everybody's too busy bitching at CF about the Olympic/Naenae f**k up than to be bothered discussing a far more serious issue - the amount of money both those clubs (and all the others) have burnt trying to maintain their "status" in local park football.

Anyway, I've got a busy afternoon so better dash. Not only do I need to submit a gaming trust funding application to pay for our junior teams' kit next year I also need to sort out air tickets for some dodgy English park player we're bringing out to play for the first team.

Money
