Just read the link on the homepage about Stu Jacobs concentrating on his academy Capital Kaizen (already sounding good).

There's also the Wynton Rufer/Sam Morgan one, Greenie and Ifill, Everton? and a few others that have been mentioned on this forum.

Plus the clubs also run summer skills programmes or high performance ones for the better kids.

So is there a register of these academies and a comparison of what they offer and charge?  Would be good to know how many there are in the Wgtn region (and also if they have acquired any goalposts reecently).

Kaisen is not cheap. You can also elect to pay extra for options such as team captaincy or to take dead balls.

Good that Stu Jacobs has branched out and set out his own football academy. Wynton Rufer, Phoenix palyers and other clubs have all set up academies. This must be good news as it offers varieties at different prices. It is the end product that matters and parents will soon see whether it is worth that sort of expenditures or not! We can't just rely on the assembly belt system being offered in the past few years where real money has been paid for mediocre coaching and mediocre playing.

Website is gone. Heard rumours RJ jumped ship due to "disturbing elements" about how the Academy was being run coming to light. No idea what that could be though.

This came out recently:

Dear Friends

It is with great sadness that I am writing to let you know that I have resigned as head coach and director of the 82 Football Academy, now known as the Ricki Herbert Football Academy.
Regarding my resignation there have been some disturbing recent events surrounding the company and the academy that have shocked myself and my wife Vanessa that have forced me to resign as head coach and as a director.
For the past 18 months I have had the privilege of coaching some very talented footballers throughout New Zealand. Through the relationships that I have built with the clubs that I have worked with and the friends I have made along the way it has been good to know that there are people that care about football and the development of the young talented players of New Zealand.
As I have previously said I have made some good friends and worked with some fantastic players and if anyone would like to discuss the development of their children or to just simply keep in touch please do not hesitate to contact myself.

Kindest Regards
Richard Johnson

Its no longer a problem.

Busting up is always sad. Is Ricki Herbert shouldering up his income during off Wellington Phoenix season or is he moonlighting? May be Richard Johnson can set up his own football academy and flourish along other mushrooming academies.
