I heard NZ Football is starting to really get behind futsal. The Dom Post mentioned there was a workshop in Auckland on Saturday. Does anyone know how it went. CCFWGTN used to post news on futsal matters in Welly. Have not read anything from you for awhile.

It was absolutely fantastic JohnM. NZF have set up a new Futsal department and have hired a full time National Futsal Development Manager, with Regional Development Officers to be in place next year. Next year, the federations will be responsible for running the game instead of clubs such as Capital City in Wellington and East City in Auckland. The aim is to have football clubs also having futsal teams. This will hopefully alleviate some of the weather cancellation issues for training and games whilst also providing sound technical practice. Especially exciting for Wellington with the new indoor sports facility being opened in August 2011. PM me if there is anything specific you want to know.DKP222010-03-29 22:42:45

I want to know why JohnM started two idential threads in two different forums.
Re Futsal, I wish NZF would stick to its knitting rather than go off on another tangent. When I read in the paper that we are planning to have no All Whites post the world cup and that Ricki has to re-apply for his job I wonder what the f**k is going on.

I look forward to the investment and development of referees by NZF for Futsal.
AFAIK there is only 1 maybe 2 FIFA certified Futsal refs in NZ.

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Don't expect Mainland will be the whipping boys they had been at previous National rounds, a new team from the one last year.
