Futsal comes to the city on Friday 7 September, 12.30 pm in Civic Square. Come along and see this skillful, 5-a-side, version of the beautiful game. Along with dance, music, drumming and martial arts Futsal will help to celebrate Brazilian Independence Day. Wellington Phoenix and Yellow Fever will add to the fun.

Thanks for posting this info. I too under the "FUTSAL" topic have mentioned the Brazilian National Day celebration. It should be quite a colourful occasion. Cheers.

I believe it is just a demonstration although I think Yellow Fever are putting a team together. Not sure if the Phoenix Brazilians will play, in fact I doubt they will with a game on the week-end but I am sure they will juggle a few balls, sign autographs etc.

Yellow Fever team is in training, although Feverish has been dumped due to disciplinery reasons.

I've been studying textbooks to see if there is a "hole" I can play in.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Will be good to get down and see futsal in action. I Enjoy playing futsal more than indoors. Different skills and tactics. Will have to get off work. :D   quality20002007-09-03 14:15:06

Does the Yellow Fever have a team yet?
It is on rain or shine & WCC is raring to go- Practice scheduled for Ilott Green 3.30pm Thursday

10 minutes of glory gents on the day- just keep the ball down so we don't break Ralph Hotere's light sculpture and if Daniel sneaks on no slide tackles!

Great turn out at Civic Square. Live music, top class football (from one team anyway), spectators and most importantly Dancing Girls. I think th YF boys were a bit distracted by the dancing girls but Cleb seemed to be enjoying it/them . All 4 of our Brizilian boys were there. I missed George but aparently he was there. He's hard to spot in a crowd.

Its no longer a problem.

nice atmosphere all round and a good attendance, shows the pulling power of the phoenix and the yellow fever team

Yeah some stunning futsal from the WCC All-Stars- restricting the young guns to 3 goals- What happened YF? ran out of gas! Nah, actually you guys got further forward than us, and were unlucky to concede 5.

Thanks for your support!

Totally agree with the previous comments - a fantastic day, good turn-out, great party atmosphere with the Batucada and girls! The Phoenix boys came to the party, everyone played their part (WCC and Yellow Fever, Capital Football, Brazilian Embassy and futsal was a winner on the day - well done Capital City Futsal)

I think that the ref did them no favours - 4 of the goals they conceeded were offside, and the other 6 were all the result of the guys running too fast at them, which should be a bookable offence.

I thought Jamie did an excellent job as ref. If you know the rules of futsal then you would know that there are no offsides! I take your point futsal can be a fast game. Sounds like you enjoyed yourself!

I think the reference to off side was a gag...
