I really enjoyed the Greeks vs Miramar thread - I thought that it provided the chance for a good bit of banter leading up to the game, and a chance to analyse it intelligently afterwards.  Following on from this, I think it would be a good idea to have a game every week that we focus on.  All week building up to it, the fans get a chance to talk about how the team has been doing, who they think the opposition dangermen are, etc, then (hopefully) a number of neutrals who have followed the thread will go to watch the game, with a bit of knowledge about what and who to watch out for.

So this weeks game will be Uni Raiders vs Petone Stews-mum - the big clash from Capital 7.  Uni Raiders are top of the table after a 2-2 draw away to Marist Inter, and Petone Stews-mum have moved into 3rd after a 5-0 thrashing of the Uni Raiders' inbred cousins, the Uni Stallions.  The game is at Kelburn Park at 2:30 on Saturday.

Bring on the banter (but no untoward comments about anyone - especially Stew's - mothers)

Question 1.

Frankie Mac - Did you get the name from '16 Years of Alcohol'?

Point 2.
Have to get this in here coz the thread is closed. I thought Miramar were poor yesterday, Miramar midfield must've left the field with cricks in their necks watching the long bombs go over them from their defence. As a neutral - I was more impressed by the football that Olympic played, at least they got their foot on the ball and tried to pass it around a bit, but once Miramar got their equalizer, you could see Olympics heads went down a bit and they lost their influence in the game, funnily the Olympic goalkeeper went from taking 30secs to take a goal kick when they were 2-1 up to taking about 5 when it was 2-2!!!.
To be fair to Olympic as well, It's the first time I've seen them play, and based on the reputation that proceeds them - I thought there was very little display of what is regarded as 'stereotypical' Olympic behaviour, no more backchat to the ref than you'd see from any other team, no theatrics, just decent committed football - good on them.

Anyway back to the thread.

Cap Div 2
Couple of tasty games there:
Stokes Valley v BNU - Both teams been running hot and cold so far this season, but both have the ability to play well on the day, both are reasonably young teams  - and of course BNU have Sandy leading from the rear, could be an interesting game.
IBU v Marist - Two big strong physical teams, wouldn't imagine it'll be a high scoring game, but could be a goody.

Question 1 - I am not sure.  You will need to ask my mum and dad.

Point 2 - The greeks vs Miramar game is ancient history.  Always look forward.

Come on Stews mum!

Oh - I thought it was a user name rather than your actual name - of course there was also footballer and raconteur  extraordinaire - Frank McAvennie. The main character in 16 years of Alcohol is called 'Frankie Mac' that's all.

i guess the big game in CL this weekend would have to be Wests v Gisborne. I know its an away game but any thoughts on this now that Gisbnorne have picked up a few new players.

Picks for the weekend:

Gissy to down Wests
Miramar to beat Stop Out
Olympic to beat PN Marist
Napier to beat Wgtn
And we'd all love to see the Naki get up over the Hutt
