My personal thought was it was due to NZF wanting better data so they could directly market to the club members.

As some clubs rolling over/adding players were not adding email etc

May be wildly wrong

I reckon its just an extension of the self-service culture - airline check-ins, supermarkets, etc. NZF/Feds just  thought fixing up a % of errors was more efficient than doing it all themselves. Everyone forgets that the principle of self service is it's meant to be cheaper for the customer!

Yea just to make sure they get the correct info I think...rolling over was so much easier..

it's shortsighted and mostly poorly communicated by NZF.

Spare a small thought for those who don't use Goalnet (sporting Pulse) as their primary membership tool and were told to have their members register twice at the 11th hour.

Those words, short sighted, poorly communicated and NZ Football all fit so well together like FFA and incompetent!
