This is absolutely f**king shyyyte...east coast bays can apply to play in auckland but according to FootballNZ they must play in their regions league. I think this will see a lot of northern clubs( EastCoast Albany Northshore etc) loose alot of players to AucklandFootballFederations clubs and it will become the dominant league.

I just hope that the jokers at United Soccer One (what a stupid name) don't ruin it for the rest of the upper north Island.

Yes US 1 has stuffed it all up.  Fair play to Auckland Football as they felt they needed to put in place something for their clubs as thats what the clubs were asking for.  It's a pity that US 1 didn't listen to their clubs.  I understand that at least 3 US 1 clubs will be applying to play in the Auckland League.

why would anyone join the fed league?? i dont think North shore Birkenhead ECB and Glenfield want to travel to play North Force etc?? Im sure most of these teams will be playing in the new league.... the only good thing to come out of this is teams will need to fulfil certain criteria and it will weed out troubled clubs like South Auckland etc

I understand that 13 teams have been accepted into a 10 team US1 premier league. You can take an inference from that that 3 teams from US1 will be allowed to join the Northern Regional League. I'm guessing Dawkings City, ECB and Glenfield

We've travelled to Hamilton so I dont see why not

At least the Hamilton sides are competitive and there are some good players there eg Matt Williams, Aaron Scott and Stu Watene - good physical games there!

US1 wont let any teams have dispensation it would go against the reasons they wanted out, if they did they should join the same cicus as the NZRL board ( they can be the clowns).

sounds like a competitive league...and as for comparing hamilton teams melville and wanderers vs travelling and playing north force??? miles apart mate..
those shore teams will lose all their players so its going to be fairly weak US 1 league anyway..alll players want to play in the highest comp and clearly that wont be the US 1 format
papakura back in the 1st div and cambridge as well from wat i hear

Be nice if there was some press release confirming whom has entered and what the actual teams in each league will be

If Soccer 2 or Auckland Football, or whatever they call themselves these days, are up to their usual level of efficiency we'll probably get all the teams and fixtures published about 2 days before the season starts

wateva the format it will still be the best winter comp around ...unless the US1 fed thinks they are going to  be?? lol
who actually came up with that idea?? and how the phuk do clubs like nth shore ECB Birkenhead etc which are run well and good sides let themselves be run by idiots like this??

Somehow the positions on the US1 board are either full time employment through NZS or mates of those people.  My understanding is that there are only 2 club reps on the board and these happen to be people from Albany and North Force, both clubs that would be playing in the old Div 1 but this new idea gives them a chance to be in a premier grade so they are all for it.  Established and well run clubs like ECB, Glenfield and North Shore hate the idea. People need to realise that not just are they removing the Northern league but also the women from playing inter federation and all the youth leagues.  How they think this will improve football I don't know.

Just got this, this morning:

Auckland Football Federation
Friday 21 December

Hi all,

Please see below for a summary of clubs who have entered the new Auckland Football Federation competition and a brief description of the next step in the process of establishing the competition.

Competition entries:

Auckland Football Federation

Mens divisions:

Central United, Eastern Suburbs AFC, Bay Olympic, Lynn Avon United, Onehunga Sports, Metro FC, Three Kings United, Papatoetoe AFC, Mt Albert Ponsonby, Mangere United, Ellerslie AFC, Fencibles United, Papakura City FC, Manurewa AFC, Western Springs AFC, Onehunga Mangere, Waiuku AFC

Womens division:

Three Kings United, Lynn Avon United, Eastern Suburbs AFC, Western Springs AFC, Metro FC, Papakura City FC

Waikato/Bay of Plenty Football

Mens divisions:

Hamilton Wanderers, Tauranga City United, Melville, Ngaruawahia United AFC, Cambridge FC

Womens division:

Claudelands Rovers, Papamoa AFC

All of these entries have been sanctioned by Waikato/Bay of Plenty Football

United Soccer 1

Mens divisions:

East Coast Bays, Glenfield Rovers, North Shore United, Waitakere City, Birkenhead, Takapuna, Hibiscus Coast

Womens division:

Glenfield Rovers, Waitakere City

None of these entries have been sanctioned by United Soccer 1

Next step:

As of Friday 21 December we do not have any certainty over whether a certain number, or indeed any, clubs might be granted sanction by United Soccer 1 to take part in the new competition.

United Soccer 1 have identified a process with a date for submissions by clubs in early February, but at this stage we do not have a definite date for conclusion of that process.

Auckland Football Federation will continue to work with United Soccer 1 so that the Auckland Football Federation can advise the make-up of leagues as soon as possible in the New Year.

Thanks for the update Jag.  I can't help but think that US1 are definatley trying to destroy any chance of the US1 clubs joining the new AFF league especially if they aren't going to consider which teams they might let join the new competition until Feb!!  Surely the league will want to kick off in late March or early April giving the clubs little chance of finalising a team.  Can't they see that all of the US1 clubs except for Albany and North Force (who I have already mentioned are the club reps on the US1 board) want to join the AFF league.  I really hope the AFF league can include at least 3 US1 clubs because East Coast Bays, Glenfield and North Shore have all performed well in the Northern League and without them then the quality of the new league will also be diminished.

Probably 2 reasons:

1. They invited clubs to apply to be part of the new competition
2. As clubs would probably drop out who had been members of the previous comp, they need new clubs to make up the numbers

I'd imagine, no offence to Waiuku, that they'd be in the bottom tier of the new competition. From what I saw of Waiuku last season, they aren't a bad side and I'd imagine they'd be able to compete reasonably well in the lower tiers. Must confess that I didn't see much northern league last year tho' so I'm basing that uninformed opinion on only seeing Waiuku, without seeing anybody they might end up playing against in the new comp so I stand to be corrected on that.

I believe that Pukekohe have also expressed an interest in being part of the new comp.

Also, agree with you nzowl. US1 certainly don't look like they're going out of their way to help, do they!

Why would they.  US1 wanted out in the first place why would they then allow three of their strongest clubs leave their so called better fed league there trying to start.
There wont be any US1 clubs next year !

heres the latest birkenhead ecb to join the auckland comp

The skinny is this.

12 team premier div of which the composition will be based on last years placings EXCEPT US1 are only going to allow 3 of there teams into the top division and their home games must be reffed by their own officials. Naturally as Birkenhead got relegated and Albany wanted out that leaves Dawkins City, ECB, Glenfield and North Shore with one of those teams likely to miss out. I would say it would be between Glenfield or North Shore (with the other teams being Melville, Wanderers, Tauranga, Central, Olympic, Suburbs, Lynn-Avon, Onehunga Sports, Metro, ECB, Waitak and 1 other

The next divisions down are AFF/Wai-BOP teams only. (most likely 3 kings, Papa2toes, MAP, Mangere, Ngaruawahia, Ellerslie, Papakura, Fencies, manurewa, Cambridge, Springs, Onehunga-mangere)

The problem lies is that if a US1 teams gets relegated from the top div, they slip back to their local league and teams from US1 can't get promoted up. Also if a US1 team does drop out of the top league, that skews the draws into bye rounds in the lower league which means that year, there will be no relegation from the bottom league back into Wai-BOP or AFF local.

US1 are having a 10 team premier division of their own with 13 applicants to join. Hmmm, you can see 3 of their teams coming back to the Northern Regional League...

You would be happy if you were Onehunga Sports, they are really the only club apart from the old 2nd Division clubs that have benefitted from this

onehunga benefit all right but without pretty boy elrick in charge they will be a much better side next year , they simply werent gelling while they had him there im picking tauranga and melville to be relegated

Melville will be an interesting side really depends how many they keep and if any of the wanderers connection stay at wanderers or move across town or vice versa

Does anyone know when this saga will finally be completed and the draw made so we know whom to watch and follow in the respective divisions?

Rumour has it that all the US1 teams that were in NL Prem and NL1 along with Takapuna & Hib Coast have applied.

North Force and Albany haven't but since they have reps on the US1 board there is no surprise there

Waitak City are the only West Auckland side to have applied from US1

So it could be fun if US1 are only going to let a select few enter.........

why did they pull out in the first place?
do they know what there doing ?
or is it that there backing down from pressure from the other clubs, best thing i see is no US! teams in till they change their  board!

Thats a little crazy, why punish the good clubs and the players because a handful of losers got themselves on the US1 board and thought starting their own league would be a good idea.  The only ones keen are Albany and North Force.  2 clubs!!!
