really scrappy game, LH scored 2 in the first half 1 was a pen. Thought wharfies had a lot of the attack in the 2nd half but just couldnt take their opportunities

i thought Wharf had the better of the first half I saw. Prob a few hangovers out there though.

A woeful 2-1 victory for Marist this week, that combined with the hutt putting away Karori, means we come third on goal difference. What a bitter pill this is to swallow.

We sucked, and i mean sucked hard. Had another player sent off for a clumsy challenge, straight red, but I really don't see how. It was about 4 yards outside the box, their player hadn't controlled the ball, and he wasn't clear through on goal, but oh well it happens. And we actually looked better with 10 men.

Either way, if we had played like this against either Karori or the Hutt, we would have been crucified.

Also - I'm tempted to become a striker

The finishing sucked, or was unlucky at best. That aside it was pretty much all one way traffic.

game was very av with the reff ruining the game with some poor descions both ways. i know it is a massive talking point and we should be thankfull too have the reffs we do but today was one of those days when you spent most the time trying to understand his descions. 1 man sent off each. went thru 9 pens befor scott(hutt kepper)missed, ps jaime mason droped nuts and didnt want to take one.

I see wgtn College bet Olympic and meet Tawa college in the semi final. Interesting that two college teams have made the semi-final. I know it is only preseason but shows that some 2nd teams are pretty poor if college teams are beating them.I've been seeing Tawa College play and they playing good football and yet they have still been missing some key players in a couple of games.Would like to think the so called better 2nd teams should be showing up college teams!

Some clubs havent entered at all, some have not entered a 2nd team and some 2nd teams entered in HP are verging on 3rd teams. If school teams played 2nd teams in Cap Prem and Cap 1 during season proper they would really struggle.

Yeah I know all this. But some teams still have a majority of there players playing in the HP and when a college team doesnt have a couple of there better players and can still get points of these teams I think thats pretty poor.

Tawa College are a good side this year.  A good College team will always trouble a senior reserve side in knock out games.  Especially in pre season.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

  • All games are this Sunday 21  March kicking off at  4 pm.

A heads up - if the Federation 17s win against Upper Hutt City B this week, the Division 2 Final will be scheduled for Wednesday 24 March at 6.15 pm on Petone # 3 (floodlit pitch). This is because the Fed team is leaving for the Dallas Cup in USA on Friday 28 March.

So who is going to win each section?

I'm picking Island Bay to beat a depleted Bubbles and Wharfies to beat a depleted Petone and then Wharfies to play and bunch of randos next Sunday and lose the final to Island Bay who will then not go on to win the Champs Premier League.

I'm also picking Tawa to beat Wellington College and the Fed Kids to beat the Butt and then Fed Kids to beat Tawa in the final there.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Was about to comment how in recent years the winner of the Hilton Petone has gone on to win the Champs Premier League.

Petone lucky to make it to the final imo. Sticks elbow claims another Karori victim.

I wonder if the div 2 final will go they same way that the same fixture went in group play. Well Coll looked completely outclassed by that Fed team. It was somthing like 8 - 1.

50/50 picking from me.

Bay blew Bubbles but Wharf couldn't handle the goalscoring talents of wing back Chris Sambrooke.

In the junior section (I mean second tier) Wellington College had to rely on a rule change and on Charlie Howe playing his son (who has left school) to overcome Tawa College (who played by the rules and entirely with schoolboys).

The Fed Kids did the number on the Butt despite Ali James's best goalkeeping efforts and a 2-1 half time deficit.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

And even then they couldn't do it in regulation time, having to rely on penalties.  IMHO, I thought Tawa had the better of the relatively few chances that were created by either side.  If only Jeremy Hall's first half effort when he skinned the last man had gone a foot inside the post rather than a foot the wrong side. A great effort by the Tawa lads to get as far as they did in the tournament.

Not sure about that.  I watched most of the first half and Dan Clarke in the Wellington College goal didn't have much to do.

lol, Whats the problem playing his son in the semi final? Its not a breech of the rules. I see nothing wrong with it.CboZ2010-03-22 19:29:09

How can this be. To start with, Sticks elbows are about 50 years old, both of them, and riddled with arthritis, and secondly, how can elbows be an advantage in a penalty shoot out?

No, playing Dan Clarke was what required a rule change.

He could have taken his pen with his elbow and still scored it?
