Immigration issues for Wairarapa Footballers

Very sad stuff...

I don't know the ins and outs but it is clear that this is a very difficult situation for them.  Clearly nothing has changed from when they arrived here or over the past 6 years.  Rugby players are regularly granted visas and I have never heard of anyone being deported.

If anyone has the knowledge and is able to offer any assistance they should do so...

gees I didn't think it was that serious. Real shame-  these guys come across as nice blokes. Would be a loss to the community. Sure Keinzley has been pulling strings with his immigration mates for the past six years I'm sure - but after this long why not just let them stay?

thought you could get residency after 5 years in the country? I must just be playing too much FIFA manager.

Yeaah I thoughts that is what it was, although could be affected if they have gone "home" for an extended period of time. I think Mirek did go back home for a while at least the first two years he was here (could be completely wrong), the first time I played him was 2003 so he is coming up on 7 years in NZ

if Immigration have kept rolling their visas over (and were not supposed to), then I wouldnt be suprised if their is a legal argument that the Crown is now complicit in their being entrenched in NZ life etc and therefore has some obligation to let them stay.

Just a really sad story. Hope it gets resolved and they are able to stay.

Three for me, and two for them.
