See Dom Post reporting Phil Imray trialling at Hibs (in a team that drew 0-0 with Raith Rovers last night ffs!)

Given I haven't seen too much of Phil playing, I think he had quite a good game in the Canterbury game we had at Newtown, but it's a hard one to call given the gulf between NZFC and SPL, probably why he's being trialled rather than signed.

Anybody who's seen him regularly think he can cut it in the SPL, it would be difficult to be worse than the present Hibs incumbent goalie Yves Ma-Makalamby (Yves Whitacalamity the terracing wits have named him) - who's off to the Olympics anyway.

When I posted it I had a witty piece of headline involving Eejit and Imray, but then i thought it would take away from Fred's own attempts.

How's my driving? - Whine here

A mystery triallist in goal,'believed' to be from New Zealand? What, the journo couldn't ask the gaffer or someone else at the club for a name?

Care to reveal what that headline was?

Let's really build it up so when he does tell us it's a massive let down!

Brilliant for Imraaaaaaaaay.  He's class.  Hope he makes it.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I watched that Yves lad play for Chelsea Reserves in a friendly against Colchester United a few years back. A fair assessment by your compatriots.

Is Imray a kiw?  I know in the article he mentions playing for the AWs but I always thought that he was a Pom?

Normo's coming home

Yea he's a Midlands lad, die hard Villa boy. Don't know if he has New Zealand citizenship though. He would surely be eligible if he isn't already.DKP222008-07-18 00:03:38

From the DomPost article:

He is not yet eligible to represent New Zealand but said donning an All Whites shirt was another dream.

"The plan is to try and stay over here for a couple of years and make a go of it professionally, but if that [All Whites selection] ever came along I'll be keen."

What are the requirements for New Zealand citizenship? Should probably look into getting it myself.

An anonymous call to Immigration with an Al Qaeda link should do the trick.

Noticed the Evening News reporter David Hardie (been at the News as the football reporter for at least 16-17 years, 'borrowing' heavily from yesterdays Dom Post article!)
