What are you guys' thoughts on this new initiative by NZ Football?

Mainland are looking at using these squads/teams to play in the 2010 junior leagues as well as the camps.  So Under 13/14 will play against the best Under 15's in the city.  Is this happening in the other cities?

Good one, so you got offered a place huh.  What age group.  Does it say how much it is going to cost?

Actually an old initiative Vim. Had these back in about 2001 under Paul Smalley.

Can't hurt.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I think the concept is okay. Better than relying on performances at ther old federation tournaments.
The cynic says that 300 x $250 a head is a money making venture per round of camps. Not a bad return. As yet we are not told who the coaches at the various camps will be.

I believe we need to get the talent ID happening younger still. We need to imrove the technical ability of your young players and creat a bit of flair and pace and spacial awarness. I think 12-13 is too late by international standards..

Still a step in the right direction none the less.

These are about identification though. Not really about development. You don't teach any player much in a week. That flair needs to be encouraged in the clubs and schools.

They gave me like a 7 page briefing on stuff like other kids are going, what we need and what they will be doing.

Also my dads helping coach at the girls christchurch one so he got a briefing about what there building us to, the main point was the 2013/14? u17 world cup. But unfortunately im in an older age group , although my age-groups the youngest for boys but girls are u12s

the coaches for the Christchurch camp for u13&14 boys have just been announced and are Mike De Bono, Stu Jacobs and Graham Mcmann. The director of the whole thing is Alan walker,i think.

Edit: Well I just checked the briefing and thats definitely the coaches for my age group, i seriously cant wait for this camp.tomrewi2009-12-30 12:15:57

Great camp enjoyed every moment of it and i did quite well, cause Yohan my coach said i had great potential cause i was a younger one and said i was positive on the ball cause i always look to go forward also the Police arrested this random guy who was trying to do something to this lady, he was like holding her t-shirt under her jacket on the Football Pitches about 50 metres from us, the girl was resisting but he wasnt letting go of her top, so her friend clled the cops and yeah it was quite interesting but back to football. I quite liked the whole idea of them introducing us to the demands of professional Football.

I love how you wrote more about that Incident than the camp.
