Hi VimFuego

Just so you know IFANZ is not a club, it is an Academy and we have players training with us from 10 different clubs through out Canterbury, our program is available to any player that wants to trial.

Should you require any further information then please visit our website at www.ifanz.co.nz or email us at [email protected]

Regards

I may have been confused between that one and the other academy that has started up that has teams in the Mainland grade. There's just so many out there and they keep changing their names it's hard to keep up!

Junior GG so excited the leagues kick off this weekend. Nothing like seeing the kids faces early Saturday mornings. We'll be into our footy morning routine of me making their only cooked breakfast of the week and then asking them a million times if they've got their boots, shin guards water.
Heard this this week: best advice for parents - you only need to say one thing to your kids after the game " I love watching you play". Awesome.

Full English: eggs bacon mushrooms toast; tomato juice for junior, espresso for me. Not sure it fits with NZF nutrition principles but it sure as hell works for me :)

Two very important phrases, sadly some parents forget 1) they're kids and 2) they play the game coz they love it.

I'm hearing the mainland 'play in your age group' rule for girls has been broken already - by, er, mainland.
No doubt there are reasons why; but it just isn't a great look, is it? As long as they're consistent.,,,

I thought the rules were once 7 up game stays as that result and you have to remove players/move players around etc to make it fairer.... Even then only the 7 goes in

At what level do they start recording the score and keeping a ladder etc?

I know the Waimak 10th Grade A Girls beat Cash-Tech 29-0 yesterday...

tables/ladder recorded as 7 goal margin
issue is why would you take players off? they paid their subs. It's a bit hopeless trying to manufacture a game midstream, and potentially with one group of players who are dispirited.
Div1 games should 'never' have 10 goal gaps IMO

Parklands 14th div 1 won 15-0 vs fc20 b team, surely if you're going to enter two teams in div 1 they both need to be upto it. Another double figure score in the same div aswell

Double figure result in girls 15th grade yesterday. Why have just one div when the same teams/clubs were spread over 2 divs last year? Too many mis-matched games and players not playing at an appropriate level will be the result.

Agree foal. Have had to manage a bow out score game several times now, and whatever you do, keeper as striker, just passing ball around etc etc, it always looks like a piss-take no matter how hard you try.

some clubs didn't get a choice. A and b put in same division cos not enough entries to make up div one. Teams playing out of grade have anything to do with that??

It's a conundrum. We want to develop top players AND keep everyone playing at about the right level of ability. IMO there is rarely ever a whole team capable of really competing a year above, but always individuals who are - and need to, if we are to develop really excellent players. Otherwise we are just holding them back. For what? PC reasons and so mainland don't have to deal with variable situations. Tough, that's life.

Surely the bigger clubs with 2 teams in div 1 should've been told well in advance of their positions and would have set up 2 even teams.

18D1 looked pretty even judging on results

Does the 8 team league concept work in junior/youth football or do we need to go to 6? it seems to be we're usually 2 teams short of quality competition so is it a better option?

We got nothing but bad attitude for fielding 2x balanced squads last season. Despite it being a good idea on paper I'd not recommend  it to anyone else given the lack of support. Interestingly both Mainland FDO's were 100% behind the idea.  Had we have run with First XI set up the boys might have got a maximum of 4 tough games all season. I knew before season kick-off that other clubs were sending players up a grade (or two). And the second XI would of played in Div2 meaning players capable of playing Div 1 missed out altogether. IMO bigger clubs have an obligation to get the highest number of players possible into  Div 1 level side somewhere between 11-14th Grade.

that FC2011 14's B side is actually the C side. The "A" Team is playing 15's... An example of cause and effect for sure. Heard Howard swapped the team GK's over so I guess that's an attempt by him to get something out of the game.

expect to see that Division regraded after 2 rounds. And given 3 sides didn't want to be there in the first place, one of whom was told on the Tuesday "you are now in Div 1" it's little wonder people give up trying to do the 'right' thing.

6 team groups have been done in the past Gings and seem exceedingly likely this year too. Your division is certainly in line for that I would suggest which would actually solve 1 problem.

moan, whinge etc

On the positive enjoyed all the games (or part games) I watched yesterday.

Some Coaches will not let go. Some Coaches/Clubs are using the Winter Comp as a vehicle for something "bigger". Obvious one presently is 2015 Nike Cup. Some clubs are over a barrel, Families say "this is what is happening or we leave". The blame for shambolic gradings are not exclusively the fault of Mainland Football.

A work colleague has a nephew in the waimak b 13div 1 and they were told Tuesday. They don't want to be there but were told to give it a go. Club entered them in div 2 but they were next in line to move up. So trials already completed. No notice or time to change. Besides like with like. If that's the gap between levels you can't mix them up.

Easy fix by placing the high scoring team in 14th grade with all the others 13th grade teams playing up....
If ALL clubs had their teams in correct age group perhaps with only a few exceptional players playing up would we have this issue? Some clubs tried but found little competition because others didn't.  Hard to believe MF not aware of situation.
You can see requirement for clubs to have  players placed in teams on sporing pulse next year.

I mean right from the outset. Realistically how many div 1 age groups from 12-16s do we have 7 or 8 teams of similar abilities?

Sunday paper: Danny Hay says $2k to play for nzfootball cup teams not justified as FIFA pay! True? So is that $2k another nzfootball bribe to sit along side FTC and NTC payments???!!!  Who would want to play for their country with all that bollocks.

TS that'd be the correct answer if I'd asked *ideally* how many even div 1s. We seem to consistently lack even div 1 comps. there shouldn't be blow outs of 8+
