I imagine it will need to be confirmed before official publication etc

Looking at the U14 draw...

2 Groups of...

Lower Hutt

Hallswell

Nelson Suburbs

Chch Boys

------------------

Cashmere Technical

FC Nelson

Parklands

FC Twenty 11

 - Will be interesting for Lower Hutt against the S.Islanders.. They are currently top in the 14th JPL Cup, with the meanest defence in the Capital. They've got 4 players selected for NTC plus some good players who choose not to do FTC/NTC & the rest in FTC .

Whats the thoughts on the S.Island teams ?

Permalink Permalink

1. FC 2011

2. Halswell

Cashmere side is their 2nd team, First XI are playing 15's. Parklands aren't much but will follow a plan and work hard. Chch Boys I haven't seen in 14's this year but if they have no ring ins could expect to lose each game by 10.

Last years tournament IIRC FC2011 won with Nelson second.

Thats sounds about right.

If its the FC 2011 team  that has been playing up in the 15 grade this year, they should easily dominate their group. They have someting like 4 NTC players and the rest FTC & rep players -It'll be interesting to see the difference between north island quality and south island quality. Parklands are without their top 2-3 players (with apparently one of them up with the Phoenix academy) so will struggle. CBHS might find it it a bit tough comming up from the lower divisions. Shame about  the Cashmere team not being at full strength

Good football being played by some teams on some pretty heavy pitches.  At 12th grade level, eastern suburbs playing nice thougtful football.  Cant see any great Nth/Sth divide in this age group - Obviously still some good coaches in Nelson and Chch....

eastern suburbs squeak home in 12th grade final over FC Nelson 1-0. FC Nelson featured Owen Barnet, a talented kiwi kid who's already trialled with Rangers in Glasgee.  A good game by all accounts.

Saturday games looking dodgy with all these ground closures.

Fingers crossed we get the games in.

I dare say there won't be any junior football this weekend with this rain and forecast. I'm guessing MPL only.

Confirmed that it's only MPL tomorrow.  All at English Park too.

Just looked on CCC website and counted 19 SENIOR PITCHES still open? Some 1 game only...surely some leagues could have gone ahead?

That thinking gets put in the too hard basket at Mainland Football.

Which ones to play and not play. The higher the grade they should be the ones playing if grounds available.

What will they do in three weeks time when the same things happen? Can them all again, what we are saving grounds for the cricket season. Oh right. Like they pay Mainlands wage bill.

by my count 30 games need to be played to cover 13 -18 Girls and Boys Div1

not sure there was 30 pitches available this weekend (if 1 game only rule was being applied)

long range forecast is pants too, so might be next Saturday, not 3 weeks time, Scottie!

regardless, I am miffed, I love Saturday morning football.

Moyyim did you see the FC2011 v Lower Hutt game?

CTFC A side played in the 15's and got third, very good result up a grade.

13's Pete Livingstone's CTFC side appear to have smashed everybody.

Congratulations to FC2011 ...

No, I wasnt there so didnt see the Semi Final between FC2011 (2) & Lower Hutt (1)......Heard that FC were the bigger, stronger & better team , Lower Hutt dug in well but were mainly 2nd best on the day.

The trip/tournament was a good experience for the LH boys

Do the FC2011 & CTFC A side play in the same league ?....How do they stack up against each other ?

The City Council stipulate that all winter sports must finish by 01 September.

This allows time for groundsmen around the city to prepare summer sports fields (yes mainly cricket pitches)

Kinda happy Im not out this morning - it was flamin cold earlier on.  If it rains all week like it supposed to I reckon they'll pull the games again - but the weather report seems to change quite quickly lately.

this season FC2011 are playing 15 D1 and CTFC 14 D1

not much between the sides and if both chose to play their best XI pretty much on the day.

both good sides to watch.
