Vim re next season NZ Football would like the Southern League / Conference (SL) to be ten teams to mirror the format of the Northern and Central Conferences so if this does happen the five teams that make the SI this season will be guaranteed a place in the SI for 2022.

Can someone explain the promotion/relegation for the southern league (i could prob look and find it somewhere on the internet but im lazy). I understand who qualifies for what but if you come bottom of this years 1 round Southern league do you get relegated for next year or is there some sort of play offs system?? or is there no relegation this year?? If there is no relegation, what are the teams that didnt qualify for this years Southern league playing for??
I don't know what's happening with the Mainland league, but I will explain what's happening down south because Mainland is probably doing something similar.

So once the eight team FS Prem finishes, top three go off to the SI League, bottom five play amongst themselves in the "Southern Championship". Once those leagues are done, the Football South team that finishes the lowest in the South Island league plays off against the Southern Championship winner for the right to play in the league in 2022.

And I think the exact same thing happens for the MPL teams.

The lowest placed MPL team in the Southern League does the same against the winner of the CCL/Qualifying League.  I can't remember if it is a straight swap or there is a 2 legged playoff however I'm sure BenchWarmer will fill us in as he already has his eyes set on that place!
