Get amongst mainlanders....

Can we please just take a moments silence for the greatest and most popular thread on this site, with a massive 1.5 million views. Loving the new forum and website however still a little gutted we lose our snapchat streak. :-) Great work team!

Yip, pretty gutting to be fair, but can you blame him with an offer like that? Not like this is a new thing in Chch football but still disappointing none the less. Might not be the only one either!

I thought this new league was supposed to tidy up this side of football?

Has he got an actual role with them? Not sure that's something that was supposed to be tidied up.

I think it’s more to do with the money being offered is far more than is allowed. Then players been put on the books as “coaches”.

Absolutely they should. But I guess it depends on if you think the clubs are trying to go around the rules or not. But when the chairman of the club tells everyone who will listen they dont pay players then you have to wonder. Also this is not only Cashmere by they way. But this also circles back to my orginal comment after the chairmans comments.

come on....you don't really believe he was hired as a coach and it is just a coincidence he is quite a good player too? Plenty of good coaches around if you are looking to hire a coach.

Yes people should be paid for what they do, absolutely. And I acknowledge this isn't a one club only issue.

But if the rumours of offers to players in the city (maybe not the one mentioned previously) of 20k for coaching/organising are to believed, it's funny that it's only the top players that get these deals. It would have been great back in my days of volunteering for my club that there was this type of money being flashed around.

I guess the thing missing in my CV in order to qualify for those payments is the most crucial part: footballing talent.

I was of the understanding that the new league was supposed to have some control on payments/incentives.

Nothing you can do to control who clubs hire as coaches and how much they pay them. If they're actually properly coaching (taking a team or two for trainings and matches, not just babysitting kids on after-school programmes) I struggle to see what the fuss is.

Although that is basically getting the kids to pay $1500 for academy spots and the money paying for MPL players. It works if the players are also top coaches, but if we are honest, they are not

I don't know any of the details in this particular case but in general there is nothing wrong in getting players to coach - but the payment you pay them needs to fit with your model, if to afford that coach young players have to pay upwards of $1000 then you have to start questioning it.

The concern is of course if we use the 20k example earlier that of that amount half might be considered appropriate for coaching and the other $10k is for playing?  Like I said I don't know the details, there could very well be $20k worth of coaching across several teams.

Official hash tag for the coming season is #NWPrem21 to take into account the New World sponsorship for both the MPL and WPL on 2021, this from the Premiership launch this afternoon.

Oh, ok. Both of Coastal's Canterbury United players now moving to Tech. So it pretty much means all of Canterbury United's players are now Tech players. Is this how the National League is meant to work? I mean, it's great for Tech, not so good for their academy players, or the other clubs, but I guess when you have to choose a club at the beginning of the year what do you do?

Strong squad this is!
The other Michael White, formerly at FC Twenty11, then Halswell and at Ferrymead Bays last season.

Presumably a bunch of players left/let go. Where did they go to then.
Their wage/*coaching helpers* bill must be getting quite high.

Great night last night, really cool having Friday night football under lights. Super result too in what could be a crucial game despite being a the first one!

AW82 I was trying to think last night whether Chris Murphy is the most capped Premier League player, is he? Tristan Nicol must be up there too can you please bang out a few stats on games and goals? Thanks in advance.
