That's the point of comments, for people to have their say. Many other stories on stuff have comments available, why not this one? Or more importantly why were they allowed then disallowed?

Bad day for the police with that dick (no pun intended) in Sydenham also in the news. So it's not just at football matches they behave unsociably.

So if MPL coaches are locked in (all confirmed?), there may be reserve and/or assistant coaching jobs to be finalised. Next cab off the rank is player movements. Tips? Goss? Thoughts? Ideas? Who have you spied having coffee together lately? What are the incentives to move to one club or another? Who would you like to see move to which club - and why? Who would do well paired with which coach? What looks like being a train smash move? It's the off season. Give us a laugh!

If Xavier now atCoastal, does that mean he cannot be involved at FTC? What are the rules around that?
Or are the only limitations around FDO's not being involved / coaching in Club land?

With the French connection at Coastal does that mean squad members will now be playing Champagne football

Keeping with this theme then surely Paris will follow Xavier from FC across town.

There is only 7 players from the ctfc in squad, so why is it everyone think they are Canterbury 'B'?

Plenty of club coaches coach FTC, shouldn't be a problem, presume he would have sussed that out before taking the job on.

In any case, my question is "Will the Coastal Spirit senior squad henceforth be known as the X Men?"

But 'Paris' is in France - hence the French connection.

Look at the CTFC team that played in Chatham cup final and see how many were in Canty Utd squad for 2012 and 2013...
Roberts, Terris, Schwartz, Schwartz, Boys, Collett, Pitman, Mitchell, Woertelboer, O,Brien, Kelly... I make that 10 plus Barton off the bench.. They might as well call themselves Canterbury United Tech FC.

If James Price is one of the best defenders then it doesn't say a lot for the rest of defenders in MPL

Unsure why all the comments against Cashmere Technical when talking about Canterbury United, then I assume you must think the same about the Mainland Pride side and Coastal Spirit.

Yes Moya played for Western in the latter part of this season, as did Dan Moir.

So money the root of all evil, now I understand. Just as will you are a New Brighton man rather then a Rangers man has they (Rangers) were rumoured paying plenty to get Christchurch United players there when the old national league was axed.

I think New Brighton paid players as well back in the day, like 1970s. Maybe before some shot over to ChCh United.
I'm sure that's the reason I went to New Brighton AFC housie nights so the club could pay the players with my money.
Can't remenber winning much.
Also played with several x Brighton players and I'm sure they got some form of payment to play Sunday League.
In fact one of those teams, Avonhead had a starting X1 that only the GK was not an x national league or Canterbury senior rep player.
Sunday League in the early stages was a threat to normal Saturday football below nat league, not in numbers mind you but good players and not all being over 30.
SSL wanting to pay refs more than Canterbury football did, most teams had non council home grounds. also tied in to a pub for sponsorship and other funding in most  cases. Some clubs such as Avonheaad had both training facilities with floolights and a gym if the weather turned to custard.
Sounds like the MPL is just as the SSL used to be. Paying players so you can win trophies. The good old days yes? No?
Even the Cant U coach has been seen with a Avonhead shirt on as a guest player, a long time ago.
I'm not sure which SSL club would have the record for the most All Whites x or otherwise to pull on a shirt of theirs.
One club did play two in the same game while both still in the AW mix.
There you go people my thoughts for a few more days.

Yes that was a very good win, should be a humdinger of a final. Shame it won't be here is the only disappointing bit.
I'm sure apologies for criticising the management of the team will be forthcoming in due course .........
