Looking at the Mainland site all footy off this weekend in apart from the Western verses Bays game which has now been switched to Barnett Park.

This game has also now been postponed, not all that suprising really. Suburbs game vs ChCh United still on in Nelson on Sunday.

Common sense prevails. Nice wee break before the 2nd round of most youth grades begins. A few grounds have been remarkably firm in recent weeks (avonhead park and halswell domain both spring to mind), so it'll be interesting to see how they cope with the added moisture as the snow/ice melts

I hate no football on the weekends. Nothing to look forward to. I thought English Park was all weather?????  What about those orange balls that could be used?

Sigh.

It is but dropped by yesterday and pitch was still covered in about 4cms of snow.

Wow, goal-fest. This will put Nelson top (obv with game in hand) and make Chch Utd within striking distance for the other two teams down the bottom. Interesting week ahead with Nelson taking on Coastal, and Utd vs FC2011.

Final was Suburbs 7 ChCh United 1 so as Vim said earlier Suburbs now on top on goal difference, Suburbs + 15 Bays + 11, with both on 22 points.

"Two minutes later Canterbury United were rewarded with their solitary score when Nik Christidis got on the board with a carbon-copy of Panzer's goal."

Reporting at its finest.

Also, since when is the sky blues Nelson Suburbs' official name? Even if it was, why then call them the 'Burbs boys' in the same article.

Boo. Very close game with not many chances either way however pretty even. Despite some great saves from Coastal's keeper the decision to come out while Ben Wright came flying in from 30 yards proved the difference as he went round and then slotted into an empty net.

FC2011 beat Chch Utd 3-1 and Bays beat Halswell 4-2.

Interesting table now!  (can someone work it out please)  I am sure it is interesting.

Good to see the students giving it a decent nudge, surprised/gutted that Waimak, Mid Canty and Selwyn aren't doing so well considering their catchment area (looking at it from a regional perspective)

Agree gings, if the Mainland Premier League is ever increased to ten teams it would best of the additional clubs come from outside Christchurch urban area.

Today's result:

Cashmere Technical 2 Western 2.

I heard Western were two up with less than ten to play with Tech when scoring a penalty with the second in added time.

I was very impressed by Coastal Spirit and the new ASB Park, kudos to all involved.

Coastal were the better side, but with a bit of luck and some better finishing it could have been a lot closer.

Good luck in the next round, 3 Kings away will be tough and they have couple of former Roslyn players, but I still want to see a South Island team go all the way.

Heard from a Mainland staff member on the weekend that the RDO position had been offered to and accepted by someone a while back and that they were due to start soon. Seems lack of communication might at the heart of the issue.

Nelson junior rep trials for South Island Septemeber tournaments already underway. When do you think we'll get underway in Christchurch? About August?

Are many clubs sending teams to this Nelson Suburbs tourney for 11-14th grades? I hear of one club (perhaps with an eye on 2013 Nike Cup) asking players from other clubs to play in the tournament. On their website they say tournament rules will be "the New Zealad Footbalkl Rules and the NZF code of conduct." No mention of guest players.

I'd heard whispers of 1st week July = coaches selected, trials start 1st week of August. Will be interesting to see how/if this works (theres always certain clubs who send rediculous numbers of kids and 95% of them don't make it past the 1st trial)

Cheers Yeovil,

thought Roslyn were a step up from last years team and were well worth a goal or two. Coastal slightly stronger across the park, the 3rd goal being a superb piece of football. 3 Kings will be tough but looking forward to it and a final in ChCh.
