Noticed this in Mainland's #1 monthly spin:
2014 will almost certainly see the introduction of compulsory coach education at specific junior, youth and senior levels. Clubs will likely have until end June 2014 to have ensured club coaches have completed relevant level 1 junior, youth and senior qualifications.
Assume all clubs will be reviewing all coaches/potential coaches with this in mind.

Was this not on the cards for awhile but was put on the back burner due to the quakes.

So this has been in the wind a wee while AW?
I believe it had been simmering away for the last week or two.

No Siggy :(
I hear another MPL coach has gone. Was he pushed or did he walk?
Is there another protest in the wind?
All these question and not halfway through the season.
Playing unregistered players, overseas players who may not have been cleared. Beyond honest mistakes, it's all about gaining advantage to win. But what about the elephant in the 6 yard box - what, exactly, are the rules concerning player payments in an amateur league? Can anyone enlighten me?
Ha, post from 2 days ago on Central league thread...
There will always be a way around it given the admin issues etc.
I honestly don't feel there are many if any players worth paying for in the MPL - no club fee and some kit is fair enough, but a few hundy a game as rumoured about some players? thats crazy!
Lots of junior games this week are friendlies
this includes you Gings.

Why pay anyone is the question that should be asked? Must piss some other players off who show up week in week out for training and games who do not get a cent.

Hope this help Regulation 5 should cover all the information you need. All comes down to the term "expenses".

Further to AW82's gossip spreading I have heard through the grapevine the protest is from Bays regarding Nelson's overseas players. Not even sure on the rules regarding this but time will tell.
Just because you have played overseas does not mean you are an "import" in some cases you can play without needing an international clearance - I can think of at lease five players playing in the MPL currently that this applies to.

Forgot to add if you do have and International Clearance, in some cases does not mean you are counted as an import either.
Thanks AW. Would an example of that be local lads who might be studying at/playing for US colleges?

Yes in the case were a clearance is not required, as clearance not required going the other away either.
Hand the MPL back to the clubs, then they can reach an agreement on what is acceptable ( if anything) as a player payment. And if your club doesn't agree with the majority, tough, you're not invited to participate, end of story.

But surely as the clubs are the Mainland Football Federation - they (the clubs) are in control. Maybe time to stand together, work together and take control.

The only way to get the clubs to work together is for them to sit around the table and nut it out between them. The only way it will work is if it is in the clubs best interests. Mainland consult and then dictate, they are the one's holding the game back here. Will they have the courage to do it? I doubt it. Your assumption that the clubs have control through Mainland is correct, the problem is their are far too many mediocre clubs, everything is dumbed down to meet their needs.
Happy birthday Western AFC - 100 not out, not many clubs can say that. Enjoy the weekend both on and off the park.

Will be intrigued to hear result of tonight's Div 1 game Chch Utd vs University. Any news on their appeal? Pity i'm working otherwise would have been good to go watch.
Also must say congrats to Western on 100 years as a club in Chch. I remember playing for them as a boy, lots of fun and good teams too.
