Maybe you would like to expand on the overstayers utd. Or maybe vim would as he seems to know everything. Let's hope you get a few facts from both sides before judging people. They do a great job in the community and are helping to drive football forward with a high proportion of their time spent with the youngsters. The only comments I hear from other parents whose children are coached by these guys are the same as mine all positive ones. The only negative comments I have heard are actually aimed at one of the employers who only has his interests at heart.

We seem to be talking about different things. I hear there are a few workers in the city (likely working on the rebuild) that may have expired visa's an a few of the lads are playing down the grades and one or two teams could be missing a few players in coming weeks.

What are you taking about.

Definitely not that!

Parklands utd would be my guess. Got heaps of uk tradies in div1. Uni got caught playing an ineligible player after chatham cup 1st round a few years back, as did fc twenty, maybe authorities check team cards after chatham cup ties?

That's good for the old darts brigade.

The not so old bloke at centre back for Nomads again leading their scoring chart including five in the last four games scoring in each.

Parklands hacked or kicked [your choice] shins, ankles and sometimes the ball on the way to a win over FC20 on Saturday.

Maybe FC20 had too many softies on the park.

Now they can both go at it again on Tuesday night in the English Cup.

Bigger shin pads anyone.

Sounds very much like the game I watched at Nomads.

Nomads far too physical for the young Selwyn side and they couldn't handle it. It was fair to say the Selwyn coaching team felt the team weren't protected to the full extent of the law.

Both FC and Selwyn need to learn to deal with it as the message is out on how to beat them - kick them!

Great 3 horse race starting to happen!

Did u not know the first few bad tackles are free this year. Not condoning it, but why not kick the crap out of ya opposition when the refs are being told to keep their cards in their pocket. Some games ive seen this year I wonder if they've left them in the sheds.

Watching the first hour of the selwyn nomads game yesterday, not only was it interesting to see a (known) nomads member to be reffing the game, but also found it amusing how for the 60 minutes nomads were throwing late tackles, tackles from behind, tackles with no intent to win the ball on the selwyn players and as soon as a selwyn player talked back after giving away a free kick, he was booked. Would love officials to have a think and be a little realistic as to why these comments are made by individuals after watching team mates get kicked all game. Not for one second am i suggesting nomads won the game because the ref was one of their own but mainland should really be looking into their appointments for these important games.

On another note good to hear comments about the AR on one side, who was more interested in telling spectators to F-off rather than keep an eye on the game in case he could help the referee and give his insight into some of the "fair" tackles going on in the game as it is his job to. Im sure he would have been able to help had he heard a selwyn player make a remark about their performance.

I think a lot of accusations are being thrown around in regards to refs with very little backing.

Please tell me where you get your info that refs are being told to keep their cards in their pocket? Yes there are man management styles, that don't just require a card out straight away, but that's what it is - man management. Cards just get people angry if they are brought out with no explanations.

Also remember there are 44 eyes on the field of players, god knows how many people on the sideline. All refs need is one person in the way and what is obvious to you is blind to them. Hopefully they were being observed so the assessor can talk to them about it.

Finally if an official was abusing people on the side, then go through the appropriate measures, contact Mainland Football and The refs association. Despite what you may think, they won't close ranks. They want the refs to get better, and will talk to them.

No issues with hard, physical play. Yes Nomads were very physical, but to leave feet and go in sprigs 1st, or slide in from behind to take the player rather than the ball isn't on. This happened on numerous occasions with sometimes a card from the referee or sometimes not. As Betty said earlier, seems like the 1st several tackles are freebies. All I want to see is consistency. It seems that it is common knowledge that several teams play in a physical style, and some like to move the ball around and let Football be the winner. You can still be physical in tackles and win the 50/50 ones, you can still be stronger than your opposite player and muscle them off the ball, and I have no problem with mindgames and trying to get inside someone's head. Don't be blatantly violent!

It may be that the teams that move the ball around have to include a physical element to their play, and I am sure that both the referees faced with 2 physical teams, and the teams that are used to giving rather than receiving the physical play could have no qualms about it. I would be interested to see how quickly a referee clamps down on physical play when both teams are up to it.

On the point of teams who give out fouls rather than receiving foul play, one of the Selwyn central defenders was correctly carded for a deliberate handball on a through ball at halfway. Correct call, correct decision. Anyone would think that the Nomads coaches, supporters, bench had seen the same player come up and punch their striker in the head, then stomped on his face as he lay on the ground. Screaming and moaning like little ........  Yes it will be interesting to see how the teams that give it out feel if and when they receive it.........

The way new refs are going there won't be any left soon.... Women's Div 1 game this morning, a refs assessor turns up, would of been good for the ref to turn up too!!!

While I agree with fact that both sides need to deal with that but why should the Selwyn have to put up with hearing the opponents shouting f**king hit them or take them out its been 4 of the last 5 games. if we hear it on sidelines how can ref not hear it?? if that's not intent then I don't know what is

Nomads won for 2 reasons; one their goalie and their 4 defenders all had great games restricting Dan Ede to just 1 goal., Two the Nomads wide players had the Selwyn defenders beaten for pace and skill, supplying any number of crosses, forcing corners each one creating havoc.Nomads first goal was a well placed header from a well placed cross. Nomads 2nd goal was an unstoppable free kick, which the Selwyn keeper never.saw Nomads 3rd goal came from another cross.Nomads were unlucky not to get a 4th goal crashing the ball against the crossbar, again the keeper beaten.

Dan Ede scored a well taken goal early on and he went close several times.but he was forced to shoot from long range                                    If a Nomads player was lucky not to get a 2nd card for a clumsy tackle then a Selwyn player, who had earlier been booked was equally lucky when, beaten for pace once again he held back a goal bound Nomads player. The same Nomads player was kicked from behind well after he had taken a shot, again free kick given but no card.

I like the way Selwyn play and I expected them to win .

Selwyn looked like scoring right up until the end but it just wasn't their day

I think that's abit harsh on a team that wins 4-2 vs the top team & is probably viewed by some as one of the biggest upsets in div 1 so far this year.

By scoring 4 goals it doubled the amount conceded by FC2011 this year so more than just hacking or kicking is needed to do that, I thought that for the most part both teams played some really good football & it was one of the best games to watch so far this year in div 1.

At times FC gave as good as they got & there weren't too many complaints coming from them throughout the game, both teams just got on with trying to play football & not hoofball as some other teams that sometimes 'hack' or 'kick' their way through games in this league.

A shame a negative view is the only thing you picked up out of a game that had 6 goals in it which doesn't usually happen it its just a kickfest.

Maybe some sour grapes after little ol Parklands did the double over the mighty FC2011 in both WPL & div 1 :)

Seemed find to use that quote [maybe a bit over the top on my part] to me as that was a Parklands player view of how they got the win.

Don't give a toss about either team or club but more than pleased for Parklands to get the win and also getting up over Waimak in the Chatham Cup.

Doesn't stop JT and Chelsea from winning things by kicking a way around a park when needed..

Selwyn put you to sleep? Of all the teams in the top 2 leagues they have scored the most and conceded a fair few. Predictable... Maybe. A little soft... Maybe. But in terms of pure excitement they are one of, if not the best team to watch.

Padmore has the team playing with real flair and allows his boys to express themselves in all areas of the pitch. Not cut out to win every game as it has proven and maybe he needs to change that way of thinking if he wants to see Selwyn get promoted but they are definitely an exciting team to watch.

Opinions are opinions though at the end of the day.

Yep abit of dramarama as Vim would say, penalty had to be retaken after a Parklands player entered the area too early, didn't help things that the first attempt missed
