Only 1 yellow in the Parklands v Selwyn game. The game was well controlled by the ref without any issues.
Mainland Premier League (Part 2)
Hopefully your lads did not celebrate too long or too after the games with FC on Monday and then away to Suburbs on Sunday - some big points to be won before the end of the first full round.
Think that's a matter of perspective AW82. There were plenty of fans from both sides who thought it was a great watch. As opposed to the Mpl game I watched yesterday with probably half the crowd.
Easter Monday - Results / Scorers

Didn't see any of the other games but the Coastal v FC was a fairly loose affair at times as to be expected after Fridays efforts. Still a good watch with plenty of goal mouth action from 2 sides set up to try and play good attacking football. Surprising to see Nelson drop points again, losing those Tasman Utd players to the Central region must really be hurting them. Nomads seem to have found a new lease after the towelling from Cashmere a couple of games back. The first round table will make for interesting reading after next weeks games.
As much as Coastal play the nicest football, im dead serious when I say I think the MIGHTY BAYS will win the league this year, playing pretty dont win you trophies. I think Nelson will have a strong finish so dont write them off for top 3. Am I missing anyone?

Nelson Suburbs title challenge likely to be defined on the number of points they pick-up in their next three games - all at home Coastal this Sunday, then Bays on ANZAC Day (in the catch up game) and then the following Sunday to Cashmere Technical, with the Suburbs squad a little short on numbers at the moment.
Would not count FC out and Tech likely to improved in coming weeks so may have five clubs pushing for the top 1,2, 3 come the end of the season.
After telling this stat to a friend of mine he recommended me here. (first time post)
Nelson Suburbs @ English Park since 2013: P19 W8 D3 L9... Four of those eight wins were against the team that got relegated that season.
Not so much a bogey opposition but bogey pitch?

Do not think flights are good if a teams wants to fly in to Nelson and back to ChCh on Saturday.
Serves them right for not having a suitable pitch to play the game on Easter Friday.
About time they looked at an artificial pitch up there. Big inconvenience for teams travelling up and then having to defer game.

Yes and Tech had a penalty saved plus a goal disallowed, both late in the game

Anyone want to have a go explaining 9-0 cashmere over fc20? When was the last time there was s 9 goal margin in MPL (happens every other week in WPL of course).
Shane carn't defend to save his life that's the reason

An absolutely embarrassing result for FC. Clearly some people are wrong about them. Not being able to score against a 10 men Nomads was a dead give away to their struggles.
Coach of the year can't be that great getting beat 9-0 by any team.
Clearly the FC players although now the age of men, will always be boys.
As for the loose Unit Shane. Going from Tech to Coastal to FC you can see a clear trend. Nobody wants him and he will next season be playing for Halswell in the CCL.
9-0 = abuse

Stats from todays MPL games;
The 9 - 0 win by Cashmere Technical over FC is the biggest ever away win in the MPL so also the biggest win by the challenger when lifting the Hurley Shield and by default FC's heaviest defeat.
Michael White's hat-trick for Cashmere Technical takes him to 93 goals - to close within 1 of Gareth Turnbull all time record of 94 MPL's goal.
Michael also became the first player to bag 10 MPL hat-tricks.
I don't know who played for FC today but am aware that boys National Talent Centre camps were held last week and of all the Canterbury clubs FC were potentially most affected. Anyone who saw FC play Coastal last week knows they aren't quitters and probably will be top half in the MPL . Next week is the girls NTC camps so expect some topsy turvey results in WPL.

Thought NTC was only 15 turning 16 years old
Have they changed it again?
