Anyone know the easter weekend/week fixtures including all cup games?

No ?

Have heard rumours for both MPL and CCL that normal weekend fixtures (although one of the MPL rounds is being played a Sunday?) and that Chatham Cup preliminaries could be Easter Monday and English Cup 1st round on Anzac Day.

Could potentially be 4 games in 8/9 days for some teams!

Just one round of MPL on Easter Saturday 20 April, usually first round of Chatham Cup is held on ANZAC Day which is a Thursday, normally not a full round down here depending in the number of clubs that have entered (which closed last Friday 29 March).

No MPL set down for 11 May, 15 June which must be Chatham Cup rounds.

Northern football has the 1st lot of Chatham Cup games down for ANZAC Day. I imagine it's consistent nationwide, so may be that with it so close to Easter this year, only game Good Friday and then Chatham Cup.

remember that Northern region usually get more entries for the Chatham Cup so the ANZAC day round will be the preliminary round. Mainland \ Southern sometimes have one as well, but if they do it will be the lower down teams (ie Chch Utd or Nelson league teams) that play. Wouldn't expect any of the MPL teams to be involved until the next round

Starting to think these draws are fixed :D 3 years in a row we've had to play Preliminary round when so many teams get a bye!

No-one believed me..... we’ve found our today that we have to play Good Friday (not that we were told of that change), Easter Monday for Chatham Cup, Anzac Day for English Cup and then Sunday (again not told of the change). Add in reserves grade is still the Saturday’s some players are expected to be involved in 6 games in 10 days!

This is ridiculous....: how many injuries are going to occur through this?

I believe this is the forum for the Mainland Premier League, which thankfully Parklands don’t look like being a part of in the near, distant, or any alternate future. At least your fixture list should clear up shortly after exiting both cups in the space of 4 days

I’m sure MPL teams are involved in the English Cup and Chatham Cup (albeit not the Preliminary round). As it was previously stated in this thread that English Cup wouldn’t be on Anzac Day then yes this is the right place.

There has been big structural changes at Parklands this year and it’s always going to be a transitional period whilst this happens. Don’t let the results you see show all the picture of how things are going, there has been positive feedback from a few avenues on changes that have taken place.

Unfortunately you are correct BenchWarmer. The issue comes because of the lost game in the Christchurch Shootings (the correct decision) and trying to finish the MPL before the SI League starts. Then throw in Chatham and English Cups.

Have to agree with Sleuth. Horrible club Parklands. Not hard to see why half the team jumped ship this season. If your players are seeing brighter futures at Waimak you know there’s a deep lying issue.

On a brighter note, how about the mighty Westerns start to the season!! Written off by so many before the season. Absolutely love spending my Saturdays watching the boys in red and black!

I think your comment says more about you, but from what I saw Saturday, it was the players that left that are still swearing and complaining to the officials but now at Waimak. Parklands may be better without them in the long run?

My little view of the clubs, taking not just the senior 1st team into account, will be different from yours as I look to see what a club offers to the community they are in. Western have only 3 junior teams that I can see so I don't see development and players coming through to the seniors in the future.

Perhaps Halswell has seen the light? With their ageing player base they are better off getting Stu Kelly to focus on developing players at the nest. Not sure if he'll be up for it as much tougher gig then offering contracts but more sustainable in the long run.

Bays were pretty woeful today, felt sorry for Murph busting his arse only for his teammates to constantly cough up the ball. If Highfield hadn't been between the sticks could easily have been 10-1. And that was Coastal without T, Ash and Macca playing. Should be a couple of good games over the next week. Bring on Nelson.

At few notable stats from the latest round.

Cashmere Tech's Garbhan Coughlan the first player to score 5 successive goals in the same game - it was the 8th time a player had scored 5 goals in a game which is the record for the MPL.

The 6 - 1 win by Coastal over Bays was Coastal best ever away win.

Technical became the fastest club to reach 350 MPL points - in 145 games, next best is Bays and Suburbs from 196 and 202 games respectively.

The 24 goals scored was the most in round this season.

True that. Gonna be tough to get a start. Good times coming. Although the biggest problem I've seen is getting partnerships and cohesion going, again a strong second half yesterday I think demonstrates that. Credit to Bays they kept trying to play when it would have been so much easier to constantly hoof the ball for Omar to chase. They did go that way a few times out of frustration in the second half but their best chances came off Coastal errors, Coastal absolutely choked them in the midfield. Playing in a hay paddock didn't do much for the game either. What's with the council turning out crap pitches for this level of football?

Congrats to Selwyn, gutsy display to take all 3 points.

Coastal will be left wondering what went wrong?

Played some reallyt good footy, had the majority of possession, most of the good chances and all of the bad luck.

Struck a keeper in form and a ref who wasn't.

That's footy for ya.
