The truck wouldn’t be big enough to hold Coastal’s trophies since inception in 2007.

He edited his original post AFTER I pointed out Coastal have won a truckload of trophies.
Pay attention fella!
From the very funny Canterbury Transfers page:
A new decade brings about change and many retirement announcements, and here’s one that should’ve been announced several years ago. One of the greatest to ever do it in Canterbury, according to himself and his self edited Wikipedia page, Stuart Kelly will finally leave his shin pads at home and stop subbing himself on as Halswell inevitably go behind early. Playing in many continents, for many different teams and in many different positions, the one constant in Kelly’s career was that every stay was short. One of his many career highlights included scoring a hat-trick in a 2-2 National League Final penalty shootout defeat, obviously penalties are included in hat-tricks, because he’s Stu fooken Kelly. The transition into the next stage of his football career began at the nest with Halswell as he took over when they looked promotion bound, and since then he has enjoyed about as much success as a sleeping drunk at the wheel, spiralling the club to depths of the league table they’ve never seen before. Despite all of this Kelly has been a magnificent servant of the game and had organised his own testimonial to take place at Halswell Domain tomorrow afternoon, unfortunately at the last minute Frontrunner surprisingly pulled all of their sponsorship for the event so at the moment it is just Stu and 10 Stu Kelly training dummies meeting at the Nest at 2pm, if anyone would like to attend please bring a gold coin and several strands of your hair.
It’s easy to bag Stu, lol, but when I saw his first game for CHCH or Woolston Tech at Ensors, in 2009 from memory, I had no idea he would hang around so long, so credit where it’s due. Whether you agree with the philosophy or not, Messrs Cowen, Nicholls and co. have bought in a few who’ve made a life in NZ. Mick Curry is another one that springs to mind in that vein.
Who else is on the move in the MPL?

With the new Amateur Player Agreements that are looking to come in and have to be signed by Players this will mean he can’t play anyway as you have to declare you are an amateur player and not an employee of the club.
Does this then mean that clubs can’t employ their players to coach summer clinics etc too?
I understand why they want this, but it could also cause a knock on effect and could affect a number of clubs! If the same applies does this rule out the likes of Luke Tongue at Tech?
is Luke declaring his brown paper bag to the IRD?
speaking to a few ChCh United locals here’s a few. Could be totally false or potentially true Andy Tuckey to Dollars United
J Richards to tech
Liddicoat to tech
Ede to nomads
Ryan Stanley to bays
Mike white to bays
Corey Wilson to Dollars United
and another dragons defender to coastal

Liddicoat not playing in the MPL as heading north for work
By Mike White are you referring to the one that played for the Hawkes last season.
Ryan Stanley will miss a chunk of the MPL as off to watch Euro 2020, likewise for five or six other ChCh based MPL players.
Haris Zeb likely to be back playing in the MPL for Nomads.

Sounds like Wilson staying in Nelson as United have signed a keeper a bit closer to home.

Think there's a misunderstanding here – nothing about an 'amateur player agreement' should preclude a player doing paid coaching (or otherwise) work for a club and playing amateur football.
Amatuer Player Agreements coming into the MPL? Is there a reimbursement figure allowed? I believe thats how NL clubs term the payment.

Yes as per IRD guidelines which I believe is $120 a week.

Does that mean that they are 'in the open' for all to see then?
Plus that could mean they are taxed as a 2nd income which gets complicated for an average worker.
Something was sent out with a breakdown of all expenses that "could" be accumulated over the year. eg. new boots, shinpads, travel 38km three times a week for training and another 38km to a game, blah blah blah. Turns out to be thousands per premier league team then divided by the 30 weeks of the year, yes $120 per person per week.
Does this mean clubs will declare in their financials, or players declare to IRD? I doubt it.

I see some of the chat around Cash Tech, but who the others that pay well in the league. Coastal? Nelson?

Have heard a rumour chch do.

Nelson certainly don't, due to cost of travel every second weekend for 16-18pax to Chch and back....

Andrew, I know there shouldn’t be but maybe the agreements need rewording slightly.
The agreement clubs have been sent states this:
“2. The Player is a volunteer and not an employee of the Club.”
In this situation Luke (who I only used as an example as I know he both plays and coaches) is employed by the club, not in a playing capacity, but is still employed by the club.
An adjustment to the wording of this agreement may help alleviate these issues, just a thought?
There's a really easy way to sort this. Most employees of clubs spend far more hours at the club in my experience over and above what they get paid for so they are both employees and volunteers. Problem solved. Thank you, it was nothing really.
There is definitely some floating around Nelson. Imports last year? Wilson, McClay, Yong, Gordon, and there was one more I can't remember.

Confirmation that Mainland is interpreting this wording re: "volunteer", as specific to any agreement as a player. Any other player relationship with the club e.g. Junior coaching, is outside of the APA and would presumably have a separate club agreement.

I've never seen one tbh, but I'd read that sentence to mean the person has declared that *as a a player* they are not an employee. And I see we've had clarity that that's how Mainland reads it too. But I agree, it would be wise to have some more specific language.
Always interested to see how the MPL teams are shaping up?
Top 3 again - Cashmere? Nelson? Coastal?

What are the penalties or sanctions if this volunteer status is shown to be broken? Who rules on it and what course of appeal is there? How in depth can it go too? Things like a club paying for a trip overseas for a partner of a player. Trip is of course for 2 people.
Will it be at NCAA level of amateur status where basically you can't give your parent's cousin's grandma's dog a free nail clipping without it looking like sponsorship.

True, there are always ways to get around something, but the harder it is to do so the better. CUFC took payments to new silly levels last year so it does need cleaning up.

I hear coastal had a pre season game last night, any word on the result? Also any other pre season games this weekend?

Coastal beat FC2011 9-1 last night. I didn't see any of it so can't give any goss.
Might be an interesting CCL this year I reckon. If ever there was a chance for the mighty Burwood or Parklands to get promoted then this is it. Or do we have the likes of Waimak to come up?
Last weekend Bays 2 Parklands 1 was a result. Wasn’t there so unsure how the game was from a Bays persp
I have it on good authority that Coastal have been sniffing around Parklands attacker Ben Robson, MVP and top scorer in the latest U19 tournament. His dad is and ex Rangers player and massive Coastal fan too.
His dad couldn't be further from massive!!
Hearing Coastal scored another 9 today, this time against SAS
Anybody know the Nelson Cashmere result?
Just been told. 1 nil Cashmere.
