Waimak are looking to field an U20 side as much as they can, and they were outplayed by Selwyn on the weekend. Basically 16/17 yr olds up against 30yr old men in some cases.

I think you were watching the wrong game mate... Waimak's first team beat Bays Reserves 4-2 in the CPL.
It was the Waimak Reserves (who can be expected to be mostly U20) in the CCL that lost to the Selwyn 'Turkeys' who from what I can tell, are all the best players outside the first team and unwanted for the Reserves. They won 16/17 games in Mainland Div 1 last year and got promoted after a shake-up to the top few leagues

Pretty poor that the Waimak - Selwyn Res game had no AR's at all. Bloody tough for a ref alone at that level making offside calls...

Very close table, next week will be the halfway point.
Yes, hard to pick a winner at this stage.
I see three of United's scorers yesterday - Cole, Chao and Meyn all 1st team regulars along with Pradhan who also played, so a few will be checking the regs for the league around the number of players allowed to drop down a grade. Nomads got pinged for this last season.

They are all u20 players though so would be dumb if this is a problem
But there are regs around the number of players (3) that can drop down from the SL team (not the age), this was the same issue for Nomads last season. Maybe more a case of United not understanding the regs, but if pinging one team the standard has been set.

Updated Table:
Christchurch United U20 Climbing the table, were 8th in Round 6th
Also, Best defence in the league, only 8 conceded. Must be hard to score against them
Yes, and Burwood similar, 8th after Round 5, 5 wins and 1 loss since then, very a hard to pick a top three at this stage but Waimak would have to be favoured to finish top.
Hear that there have been changes in the coaching staff at Halswell.
Yeah, Jae Youn Lee sacked, with Ollie Hawkins to take over, the second team in the Canterbury Premier League to change managers this year, after Parklands.

Anyone got idea whether there is any U20s in this division ready to make the step up to Southern League?
Particularly from the U20 teams, or maybe anyone who plays for the senior teams who’s still up and coming

Alessandro Cvasniuc and Lewis Carswell, Both Top Ballers in Christchurch U20 Academy
Reuben Harrison is one playing for Tech Res. that could be playing Southern League. Played a bit for Bays last year and came off the bench for 20 minutes in the SL against FC Twenty.
Understand FC asked if he was available earlier in the season but he wanted to stay and fight for a spot at Tech.
