Christchurch United net another hattrick with a trio of new signings
Following on from yesterday’s announcement of the club’s first signings since Halligan took over the Christchurch United reins, three more players have committed to the Yaldhurst-based outfit: Shawn O’Brien, Jordan Halligan, & Jonny Inwood.
Left footed Shawn O’Brien is one of the most decorated players within the city, winning 4 MPL titles, the MPL Goldon Boot in 2013, and the MPL Player of the Year in 2014, yet still only 24 years old. O’Brien will be a valuable asset to the club through his versatility of scoring goals, providing creativity, and being able to cover defensive roles.
Jordan Halligan, again young in age at 23 years old, has already clocked-up over 150 MPL appearances, seeing the holding midfielder lift 3 MPL titles and a Chatham Cup winners medal. Halligan junior was voted the MPL Player of the Year in 2016.
Adding some much needed tenacity for the CCL, midfielder Jonny Inwood is another key signing for the club who can also play in a variety of positions when required. Inwood spent last season with Cashmere Technical and had a previous spell with Universities.
Have Home & Away Changing Rooms been built yet? Leaving opposition to change outside in cold and wet conditions the last 2 seasons has been a little harsh
Priorities BW.
Danny halligan going back to his old club. Really this is nothing more than a club with the same name. Over the last 5 years they have thrown silly money at players trying to get back into the top league. In that same period a new club formed just down the road have invested in youth and senior coaching whilst adding a couple of experienced players who have bought into the culture the club wanted to grow. This has resulted in the club joining the big boys and have been a joy to watch playing exciting football. I know which club gets my vote
