Got told at yesterday's game that there are 8 players at Chch Utd who will be on a $250 per week fee plus each will receive $5000 if the team gets promoted. Each! What the hell is even going on here?

I think Christchurch Utd should look to bring in a Sunday League team on similar wages.

Paying mercenaries expenses is ok to a point, but when they have been tapping up,enticing boys however you wish to put it as young as year 10 then surely it is time for mainland to get involved.

Any young player (and their parents) looking to head off to attend a college (Unversity) should walk away from any payment(s) being offered as if the college become aware of it they will be considered a 'pro player' an any scholarship would be withdrawn.

Hopefully any club, or club offical would not be offering any payments which would put at risk a players future both on an off the park for playing in any local league.
