Looking at the clearance page Parklands and FC Twenty11 have picked up a few ex Western players and look to FC Twenty signing an International player in the next day or two.

Is the international signing still happening? Where are they coming from?

So I have been told and if it does happen they will be coming from just down the road.

Sadly sounds like Selwyn will not be contesting the Women's PL this season, meaning that there will now be a 'bye'.

Well that is terrible news

Very much enjoyed the way Selwyn and Waimak put time, effort and good coaching into their respective girls sides over the last 5-7 years. After 1 season where they should be its all over.... Painful stuff for all of Chch football IMO

I think it should also be looked at that they failed to have a WPDL team last year which was suppose to be apart of the criteria for new teams entering the WPL but was never enforced so having that extra depth might've saved them from their current situation. Agree though it doesn't help with such a huge shift out of one club.

Regulations and criteria are fast and loose when it comes to clubs entering teams for senior womens competitions - due to player numbers. Mainland did the right thing by recognising that Selwyn and Waimak were growth clubs. Parklands getting promotion to WPL when their reserve grade team couldn't even with that competition was a bit off. And Western didn't field a Reserve grade team last year.

If Selwyns growth was that good then why are they now pulling out. Parklands put a lot of hard work in to meet the criteria of having a WPDL side which is a big reason of why they improved so much last year compared to their first year & our now reaping the benefits of having the depth of senior players.

Because Mcmann took half their squad, but they and Wiamak have teams coming up through every girls grade - these kids need a first team to aspire to.

Yes because the guy is a complete tool. Look at everywhere he has been in NZ (halswell, apfa, IFANZ, selwyn etc) and how long has he lasted? He is despised by most of the clubs he has been at and hopefully FC realize this soon and get shot. Will be interesting to see whether he actually plays any of the girls he has taken, most of them are not good enough anyway so i can see the previous FC girls getting rather disillusioned rather quickly.

the last comment by Nomad is spot on with regards to everything. One of the girls at a push would be at that level and could go into most sides in chch. The rest....... Sad thing is that the girls 'left behind' are all younger but have great talent. If I was an FC player , especially from their very good u19 team , I would throw my toys if one of these ex selwyn girls were picked ahead of them. Will see what happens.

I disagree there are two that are worthy of being in that team and both going to Auckland.... One had a year off due to injury I believe? Correct me if wrong.. The rest well agree, he's ruined many girls teams selwyn had a bloody good team why anyone would follow Mcmann is behond me

McMann was sacked alright, and for very good reason. Selwyn has done a stirling job in minding its own business and
presenting facts for as much as they were able to. Three coaches are still legally working in NZ whilst ERA case is progressing.
Bit difficult with Ifanz staff not in NZ but moving between Spain and Australia trying to stay out of the reach of the long arm of the law.
NZ Police is conducting criminal investigation on certain members of Ifanz for alleged misappropriation of funds in relation to the 6 figure sum
of money people have paid for trips to Spain that never eventuated.
Sooner or later ‘Rumours’ will be proven right or wrong.
Extradition from Australia is common these days so expect all will be revealed soon.

Possibly could be correct, one of the ex Selwyn girls who has followed Graham I never really had too much to do with, she could be OK. The rest of them only had 1 player of note.

Graham had a good go at ruining the men's side of the Selwyn club before the women's. It was interesting seeing it 1st hand as a player. I hope FC see what they have taken on 1st hand and do what they think is right for their club.

Not sure what to say

Really am disappointed Selwyn side is out

Sends a lot of plain wrong messages to clubs, coaches and players.

Not wanting to be Nanny State but maybe public forum is wrong place if Cops are Investigating though.

That's a different issue Foal; but this is the right place to discuss how one individual's actions (backed by his new employer) has basically screwed the womens premier league for this season. Do you think he gives a toss? Does the board of fc20? Thought they were better than that, but they'll claim it's not their fault. Will Mainland take action. No, but they should to protect the integrity of the league and a key club for the future health of that league.

I'm picking the league this year will be 4 competitive teams (Coastal, Cashmere, UC, Paklands), then a very young Waimak team, then fudging cocks 20 quite a way back, with a kids team from tasman playing 2 games every time they come to chch finishing last.

Since when has conjecture, rumours and lies never been ok on this forum? Nanny state indeed.

Back on topic, how do you think the Nelson team will be feeling thinking they were coming down for double headers and now they aren't?  Total re-work of the draw perhaps?

10cc...would be very surprised. The squad is basically the PDL team that finished second to Coastal last season plus some U15 players. You've lost THW and MF is too young to dominate at this level; and your GK (BC?) is not bad but should be playing PDL.

Should the league ever become a 5 a side comp then expect fc girls to become world beaters! Will be getting plenty of training in that area... just saying.

Shame for the league but Selwyn Womens will be back as the club are only just starting to build. Lots of quality in the youth game so will only be a matter of time. Good riddance to the rest. Hope Waimak go well!!

Selwyn must be doing something right for dan still to be there. Rumour has it it was either 1st team coach or mcmann to leave the club. Mcmann only interests is how much money he deserves and not that of the girls. Just hope he don't plan on moving on to nomads once he has ruined fc.

If Graham McMann is as bad as people are saying, then it begs the question: Why have most of the Selwyn girls followed him to FC?

although it looks like most of the selwyn girls have gone to FC . Only 4 regular starters from their far superior (in my opinion) 2014 PDLwinning team have gone to FC . The rest have either tried to stay with Selwyn Prems , given up, or gone to one of the top three clubs.

My guess, going from previous personal experiences and hearing the same with others, is that the girls have been promised the earth and like me when I was young I fell in the trap. I wonder if the same promises of "sending them to Spain" or "having their name on the back of playing shirts" have been dished out yet. It's become less about the girls development and more about screwing Selwyn over.

So only four have followed the coach. That is not a big number compared with other coaches that have left clubs. We had one take 11 last season and another take 8 this season. My sympathies are with the players they oust from the club they join and the ones they leave behind. Pots and kettles from some club supporters me thinks!

Fred it's definitely more than 4. I think itsallabouttheplayers said it was 4 from the PDL team in 2014 (plus others). I also think a WPL team is different to a kids team, though they are mostly teenage girls, in that few clubs have the depth of female players at WPL level to replace the guts of the senior team walking. I'm gutted for Selwyn who have invested a lot of pioneering work into club structures, coaching and facilities.

To follow on from Dan's post, the ex SUFC girls were promised many things when Graham moved to FC and that they were special. Maybe that was why barely any of them ever bothered to go to training. They were the special ones who would always get picked regardless! Don't even get me started on the rep team he took.......

SUFC has kept its mouth shut over the reasons that Graham was asked to leave. This is on legal advice. I'm sure there are several people who would rather stick the boot in even more where it belongs, but can't. The girls did feel sorry for him, but as they weren't able to be told the reasons, they took his word over the club. If they had any understanding on how any football (or any sports) club are run and that the greater good has to be looked at, then they would even more stupid than they already do.

This has definitely been a case of 2 adults and a couple of children - yes children, not liking been told what to do and the rest getting together and deciding nobody treats my friend/ friends like that. Some times in life making the wrong choices is all part of growing up. A case of the reaction being worse than the original act . good luck to selwyn for the future - some players , coaches and administrators will come and go but just like the area selwyn are based in they will continue to grow.
