Ok so we sat up an noticed that big win by Karori today over The Turts.

Over at North Welllington we're rebuilding - knees, ankles and other body parts - we expect it to take most of the season so please don't be disappointed when we don't achieve our usual high standard of first or second in the league.

I see Stop Out defaulted today - hopefully they'll default out of the league. Worst behaved team I've ever seen.

They defaulted because of a tragedy.  Please show some sympathy for the loss the club has suffered.

To my old friends at Stop Out my condolences on the sad news about Neil.

The Turtles had a shocker in the second half on Saturday....kept on passing to the Porirua team.
Must say the game was a lot quieter without Blocker playing....

I believe he will be back, however we are hoping to continue our youth policy here in the Porirua City masters, so dont know if blockeer quite makes the grade.

Hopefully not a youth policy similar to Olympics a few years ago..

The leader board is looking a bit different with Karori, Island Bay and Miramar on top. North Wellington is working on a cunning plan with three losses to win Div 2 next year.

Sounds like Naenae and Div 3 next year...

But from what we've heard in the press over the years - you can always get a good time at Naenae.

What's the story with Masters players and LACK OF DISCIPLINE? I've been asked to play a couple of times and my reply is "YOU ARE JOKING". The ill discipline and the plain nastiness makes it...ummm.. unattractive.   Story is that Masters is to be renamed Grumpy Old Men's League.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Dairyflat - I think you'll find that not all players in the Masters grades are grumpy and lack discipline...most of us are there to enjoy a good game on a Sat afternoon.

As for Zephyr.....surely you're not a Nth Wgtn player having a whinge about the reffing on Saturday ? The guy who did the first half is a qualified ref. Last week against Seatoun we shared the reffing with them and they had no complaints at all...

FabTurt, I agree with you that most, easily the majority, are there to do just that. At the same time there are some 'grumpy old men' not helping the cause.

Can't recall anyone being grumpy in North Welly games this year on either side. The "qualifed ref" comment explains it all - a little power mad I'd have said. Davey J did a good job in the second half.

Depends who you're playing - mostly it is played in a very good spirit - especially this year.

Most teams in the league including Masters 1 play in the right way.  There are always a few individuals and a couple of teams who let down the standard.  Overall everyone we meet have the right attitude.  Most shouting is by players at themselves for stuffing up!

masters is just a bunch of us trying to relive our old days without speed, ablility and skill, although we all think we've got it i play masters 4 in welly and if you've got a broken something then you'll be starting. It's just fun and a time to hit the pub after and enjoy a pint with your mates

Almost got thru the trip to the Andes (aka Alex Moore) without any incident in the Nth Wgtn v Reds game....  unfort a bit of red mist descended late in the game, but the majority of both teams are simply out there trying to relive glory, get a break from lifes toils with a game and a few beers after    2-2 a fair outcome and the guy who reffed the first half did a dam fine job   the Nth Wgtn keeper had a blinder and I hope he gotyour man of the match beers    95% of the time it's a great league, and the football though slower is at times ruddy good          enjoy yr season...

Not mentioning that a Stop Out played punched a North Wellington player with no provocation whatsoever. Stop Out have now achieved four punch ups inthe last four games against North Wellington. No wonder several North Wellington players retired last year quoting the Stop Out games as the reason it wasn't worth playing anymore. No problems with any other teams this season either.

This is getting boring.  The game was played in good spirits and general conversation was positive in the changing rooms afterwards.  So Steve, that leads me to believe that you're either the guy who threw the cheap shot into the players back to get the reaction, or the 2nd half ref who Nth Wgtn tried to replace before inciting a punch up with your blatent one sided refereeing.  Or maybe you were the guy who kicked one of our players in the small of the back when he was on the ground away from the ball 2 years ago (note he's not playing any more).

You're obviously english because everynight you obviously feel you've gotta get on your soap box and be so negative.  Get over it or at least get a life.

Most of the key guys who aren't playing for you this year, played with some of us at Stop Out and we know fairly well. Haven't they gone back to playing 90mins in the capital grades.  I'd say they got more tired of your whinging than a game of competitive footy.

Tell you what.  Put your hand up next time we play & that way we can get your seal of approval everytime something happens and make sure appropriate therapy is in place if you trip over your laces.

To the rest of Nth Wellington Masters.  Apart from a bit of ref stress in the middle of the 2nd half, last week was one of the best spirited games I've played against you guys in years.   We don't need people like this trying to stoke fires out of nothing.

Yes it was the best outing by Stop Out I've seen and a shame that one player ruined it. And it wasn't me who got punched but I saw it.

After the game last year one of the Stop Out players quite openly said that he'd gone out to break a players leg during the match - I'd never heard anyone say that in many years of playing.
