Should be interesting again this year with a few new teams in the mix, anyone know which div welly united dreamers have come from?
The Cavs have weathered a preseason controversy with Marist for Lifer F. Brakkhuis rumoured to be putting in for a transfer to North Wgtn at a preseason "training" BBQ causing a massive uproar amongst those gathered. This rumor has since been scotched, with Frank set to play in his umpteenth season for the green and whites. A counter rumour surfaced that another, undisclosed, Cav had put in the transfer request on Franks behalf, this is yet to be confirmed....
Best of luck to all Teams :) Hopefully we all get lots of games at Te Whaea and Wakefield when it is up and running.
Cavs Fun Facts and Things to Ponder...
- Can Westy miss the goal from closer than 6 inches this year?
- Will Bernie write a positive match report?
- Can Marty go a full game without losing his cool?
- Will Murph win an Oscar for Best Director?
- Will Craig pass?
An interesting season awaits

Needs more Jambo. Last time I chatted with him IBU were trying to find anyone over 35 who could walk after losing some players.

That and most of the guys in our team probably think a computer is the thing that cooks their tripe and boiled veges...
IBU were one of the teams to beat last year, had a very good side, wonder how they will get on this season with the personnel changes.

Well without giving too much away we have made some superb signings !
Our scouts scoured the globe north, south, east and west leaving no retirment village or nursing home door un knocked on !
Our previous coach is taking a year out and we are going to try run the team on a kind of anarchist collective basis this year ,so I imagine the side line will be a lot more entertaining than whats happening on the park !
Our motto is" if your old enough then your good enough to have a healthy vegetable garden, a Gold bus pass and a nice cup of tea !!"
Our pre-season prep has been excellent with pre match deep heat ready by the tub full and ACC claim forms piled high in the club rooms .
Grey is the new yellow ,one shot of Viagra for glory bring it on !!
I better have a wee lie down now !!

You guys played Wests eh? Them and you guys were two of the form sides last year...close game?
We were reasonably lucky to get a 1-0 win vs Eastbourne, they had a strong side, and played a nice brand of football, not heaps of chances for either side, but we managed to take one of ours and our keeper pulled of some great saves to keep us in the game. High attrition rate has already kicked in with a couple of injuries, looks like the cast of thousands will quickly turn into scraping the barrel for players as per usual.
Looking forward to Te Whaea on Wednesday night, rematch of our cup final with Porirua from last year, should be a good hard game.

Results from Te Whaea last night:
Island Bay 3 Nth Wellington 2
Marist 8 Porirua City 0
Man do we love playing at Te Whaea! Great result for us, score does not do Porirua any justice however, they played well, and the match was not as one sided as the result may indicate. Still we are really happy with the result and hopefully masters 1 will get more games on the turf, it's awesome! Big game for us vs Island Bay on Sat. Good luck to all teams

Is there anybody out there (apart from KiwiJambo)?
Lots of high scoring games this round (again) we were lucky to have a good second half and put a few past North Wellington, despite them really coming out of the blocks well after half time and scoring a nice goal to make it 2-1. Final score 6-1. Norths suffered a wee bit through starting with 10 and only getting 11 at the half, but it was a good competitive match. A bit of niggle from both sides, but you get that with grumpy old men.
We were thinking we might sneak back to the top on GD today, but the Dreamers continue to outstrip us in the goal scoring stakes, and by results look like they are going to be the team to beat, we struggled a fair bit vs IBU last week, so for the Dreamers to put seven past them...they sound like a formidable outfit. We will be looking for payback vs Wests next weekend for them doing the double on us last year.
