Does anyone else think this system is quite strange, It's like the first half of the season dosen't count

There was alot of noise from sides that had been forced to come in at a lower spot about how they couldn't move up so this was the answer.  Originally I thought the scope was much wider and included 6 down byut it's been thinned out.

It's actually good for the lower divisions, because it sorts teams out more quickly, so everyone gets to their real level sooner, which I should make everyone happier.

Well it's working out a bit rubbish for my team we're in women's cap 1 so we can't get promoted but my understanding is our points will go to 0 so we loose our lead

Shouldn't effect you at Cap 1. Most grades are pretty level, but the lower grades can have quite a difference. So having the movement for teams Cap 12 and lower is good.

Perhaps this will help - CF and the working group of club members were told by players/coaches in their online survey (summer of '09) to create a league system that ensured greater movement of teams, recognising that teams from season to season might change drastically over the summer and be in an inapproriate grade/std of football come the next winter. Teams that were too good for their grades - needed promotion sooner than once a year, teams that struggled wanted out & a regrade down to make sure their winter wasn't a long few months of discontent and defeats.

Womens Cap 1 had to be the grade that is if you like the transition point - yes there's no gain from winning round one, but there is relegation at stake for two teams at the halfway stage & just as importantly promotion from Cap 2 for a couple of teams. So yes - points are reset to zero for the second round - and the next 7 games are a short sharp contest to determine two teams getting promoted to 2012 Premiers.

There is a review planned for the league system - and while the situation of "winning" round one & then starting again is a little obtuse - it's a small cog of a system that across the leagues it is hoped ensures there's no stale leagues that grind their way to a conclusion with the same old faces - good or bad - seen too often each winter.

Thanks Deretsim. Good information.
Bit hard on teams getting there results reset. But I also think its good for teams that need promotion/relegation!

So it will be finding a balance

Well at least it is consistent. In junior competitions in Chch last year, some teams were reset to 0, others got to carry their points from the division below, and in the worst case scenario, some teams got double points for each win/draw they received in the new grade!
