How did the teams guest players perform?

ECB had an ineligable one, dunno if he made much difference though.

Three for me, and two for them.

You never asked our club for permission for Ben McArdle.

Three for me, and two for them.

Does anyone know who was named in the tournament team? Who the top goal scorer was? What were some of the reasons for the Wgtn teams not performing well again, the forum pretty quiet, on napier tourney, dave57 how Wharfies go ?

You dont need to ask the club for permission he has chose too play for us as a guest player, and he has played for us for a few years now.

I dont think it really even matters as ECB lost in the quaters

Yeah you do actually our club president told us the rules mate you have to ask the clubs permission to field a guest player at this tournament and ECB didn't.
Yes they may have lost in the quarters but it's the principle.

Three for me, and two for them.

top goal scorer might of been Olympic guest player from Auckland - Mark Withers,,, scored 6 in 6 games,,,

Too many Wgtn teams for them to really compete,, 9 wgtn teams in the main draw, and 11 from Auckland - 1 from Chch - hence the winner...

Yes he was one of our guest players and he is a great player on and off the field and he only just turned 17.
"Well done" to all the Olympic uner 19s squad. They did their best...going out to penalties is a hard thing for any team...
On their last pool game and with 7 players being rested, the young guys did a great job to keep CHCH to 1-1 till 10 min from the end where they lost the game to the "FULL" CHCH team 4-1.

Team of the tournament:

Adam Cowen - Christchurch Technical

Ryan Faichnie - Christchurch Technical

Harry Hilary- Jenkins - Christchurch Technical

Troy Smith - Wanganui Athletic

Nick Dockary - Napier City Rovers

Ethan Dent - Napier City Rovers

Bryce Howard - Western Suburbs

Daniel Abricossow - Glenfield Rovers

Thomas Kelly - Wellington Olympic

Shaun O'Neill - Wellington Olympic

Leonardo Gesser - Three Kings United

Maxum Manko - Three Kings United

Keiichi Nguygen - Miramar Rangers

Chris Woods - North Shore Utd

Mars Keomahavong - North Shore Utd

Morgan Day - Dunedin Technical

Sam Blackburn - Lower Hutt

Jamie Adams - Tauranga City United

Other winners were as follows:-

Fair Play Award went to Wanganui Athletic who were the only team not

to

pick up any cautions.

Player of the Tournament - Anthony Hobern of Cambridge United

Golden Boot Award - Joint winners were Chris Woods (North Shore guest

player) and Mark Withers (Wellington Olympic) both with 6 goals.

Napier City Rovers Player of the Tournament - Robbie Hunter

Everyone knows that the U19's is a tournament where the whole squad counts. Who cares about who had their best team or their 3rd team on the park.

It's a squad game.

As long as they did their best - thats all you can ask for. Im sure they are probably still in one of their rebuilding stages, and will boss the tournie next year.

"Thanks" for that Feverish, as for "they are probably still in one of their rebuilding stages" comment you should really know that the UN19s squad for any Club is always on a never ending rebuilding mode due to new players coming up and "older" players beinng inelligible due to the age factor. I am quite sure though that the Club  once again will have a compatible team next year, after all we have to maintain the "title" of the best performed UN19 Wellington Club in Napier this year.

Dude I started reffing at the under 19s when I was just turned 19 and was 85kgs. Now I'm 31 and 100kgs I certainly wish I was 19 again. i can pretty much remember most of the All Whites that went through that tournament too.

I'm getting too old for this...

Mike Jones frm Wgtn Col, n Tyson Brandt frm New Plymouth

Theres a ginga on the wing for Lower Hutt, and he was by far the best player in the team, cant see how he's not in that team as he gave defences the run around.

Can't see how player of the tournament came from Cambridge they weren't that good and were only in Satelite.

Your dreaming SJay dark horses hahahaha you need to remember coll only came 15th out of 16 at nationals and the rubbish NZSS team lost all three games to some college teams on there tour overseas so at the end of the day winning one game in Napier is about what you should of done..

dont get me started on nationals ay, we won wgtn champs n beat the other finalist 6-2 in a traditional game.  also gota say that coach for both the nzss team n col 1sts has an shal we say interesting way of coaching, ranting at the players for 45 min b4 the game and the arriving at the game with 5min for a warm up. unless im mistaken thats not the best way to prepare for a game. point taken though about results in nats for school.

Unfortunately you'd have to say all the Wellington teams underperformed, possible exception Olympic (maybenot?) but even then their best (two?) player was from Auckland.

Bit of a shame to see all the Wellie teams stuggled. It used to be nearly all Wgtn teams in there, then Akld started arriving, and now they have the Sth Island winning it. I guess the Wgtn player pool is spread pretty wide with all the teams in the main draw and satellite tourny.
