Shame all the yougnsters will be away fro the Nix game vs CCM.

Dave57 - take my advice and play with at least six at the back to avoid these spankings you have been getting.

im gutted.

Honestly we dont need to anymore aye. When our team was injury free at the start of the hutt tourny we were unlucky to lose 2-0 to miramar and 1-0 to Tawa. Its sweet. People will be suprised..

Dark horse looks like Papatoetoe to me i mean it doesn't seem too many people are giving them a chance despite the fact that they have won the U19 Metro league back to back the past two years without defeat.

I hope either them or Central win so we can say we beat the national champs!!!

Three for me, and two for them.

There is no doubt they are a good unit - but a certainty...yeah right!

We all know that it all depends on the day, conditions, minimising injuries throughout the tournament and at the end of the day, how good your bench is - but I like your positive optimism.......

I too think the Centrals, East Bays and even Papatoetoe (rough pick) are going to be dominant again as well as hosts Napier, not too mention I don't think we have seen the best yet from Lower Hutt, Miramar and even the smokey, Wests could all be a threat as well.

Petone I hope do well, I just hope they keep the ball moving a pace, Lower Hutt talent to burn, but they need keep their disclipine, (MM needs to perform as he capable and not like a prima donna) Napier lost 9 of last years winning squad, may struggle in an even looking section, I think CHCH may be the dark horse, long way to come! The normal big guns Central , ECBays Waitakere  will be hard to knock over as usual. I don't see UNI MT WGTN in the draw, whats happen to them, sad for such top club to be in decline!

Dunno, but our club pres said he's been there and they have about 10 top class pitches according to him. He says it's a superb sports facility there at Park Island so i think we will be alright on 5 and 6. Of course we get a go on the main pitch if we make the final.

Three for me, and two for them.

pitch 5 is as good as the "main" 4 grounds.  ground 6 has been one of the training ground sin the past so...... still better than most here in welly and MUCH better than awakairangi #3 or what ever the pitch was i refereed you on the other weekend.

some tough groups in napier.
i think petone will fold under the pressure. although displaying some good football throughout ivan england and hutt tourny, they have put together a good side.
olympic will find it hard having not putt out there best side thus far.
western suburbs a good side i think they could do some damage and go far.

I played reps with him in Taranaki in 89. Flash was a gifted footballer and I enjoyed watching him play. He just had amazing timing. His middle brother (Mark) was a bloody good footballer too.

How many Wellington teams are taking guest players to Napier, Petone I think had theirs at Upper Hutt Tourney, Lower Hutt normally find a couple of good ones, rumour has it theres 5 or 6 players from Gisborne spread around some of the Wgtn teams can any one confirm.
looking forward to another weekend of fast competive football, Good Luck to all the Wellington teams, we are long over due for a tournament winner even a finalist.

Thats why I dont think we have seen the best of the Wellington teams yet as they did not have their compliment of guest players, whereas Petone had their squad (at UH tournament) with the exception of McLay who will make a difference in firepower up front......I still think Papatoetoe roughie to cause a few upsets....chareimos2007-10-19 14:06:48

Christchurch look to be doing well - who the hell are they? Utd or Tech or a composite Chch team (which I wouldnt think would be legal)

petone aye, one of the favourites, couldnt win on day one!! i reckon the auckland sides will fill most of the 1/4 final spots with possibly olympic being wellingtons best chance of qualfying! or wests and lower hutt but they might just miss out! christchurch and north shore look like favourites but who knows in these tight short games

Well picked johnny. Olympic only Wgtn team in, lost 5-4 to North Shore in a thriller apparently. Final is between Christchurch Tech and Central United at 12.

Oh meant to add, was at the games on Saturday, proudly sporting my Retro Ricki (naturally- and as frigging cold as that Napier wind was)- and saw probably another three or four YF shirts being worn, and so many people wanted to talk Phoenix! Once again shows just how the fever is spreading... Great to see!

the olympic game was a thriller, lots of action right to the death. thought olympic was better on the day with a couple of really good opportunities to win the game.

chch tech won 2-0 in the final against central.

Olympic were extremely unlucky not to get thru...they played the more attacking game and always looked more like scoring...a very sad way to go out on pens.
It was fantastic to see the huge support back again for the Greeks...and I hope they were pleased with the support our lads at LHAFC game them throughout the match.
Well done
Good on you Hellas boys...superb flying of the Wellington flag

Another great weekend of football in Napier, but once again no Wellington team in the Semi Finals.
Olympic I thought played well and were the better team and should have won the quarter in normal time and not gone to penalities, West blew theirs chances in the the last game of round robin losing to Wgtn United, LH could have qualitied but lost their last game, Petone 3 from 3 on the first day(loses) no one would have picked that, both UH and Tawa battled away to ensure places inthe main event next year.

How did the teams guest players perform? Wests would have to be a little pissed off with their NZunder17 player got sent in the first game missed the second and got sent in the third tournament over?

Were any Wgtn players named in the Tournament team, I would have picked George and maybe Olympic guest player up front who scored a few goals.

I see my dark horse came through to win Well Done Christchurch.
