Predictions!.......
Napier U19 Tournament
Is the draw out yet ?
Predictions: Lower Hutt to win again against Birko in final again. score is 2-1. Also predict another hapless Olympic teenager will get sent for dissent APU. It will also be an awesome weekend of awesome football from most teams in the sun APU. I also predict not enough sth island teams will be entered too.
Upper Hutt should do all right in the satellite draw this year. Pretty solid squad with 7 or 8 who have experienced Central League this year, with 3 or 4 being regulars. They Beat Lower Hutt 3-1 in the Ivan England tournament last weekend.
Napier must make some money from the tourny. How much is the entry fee per team and how many teams go?
Good on Napier. Credit where credit is due.

According to CF website that was LH development team ? They still appear to have a team in the semis
Chch clubs:
Cashmere Technical will field a decent team in the main draw. As Christchurch/Woolston Tech, they won it 4 or 5 years ago.
FC2011 (yep we think it's weird too: amalgamation of Burnside and Avon clubs 2 years ago) have entered in the satellite draw.
Coastal Spirit are running their annual under 19 tournament the same weekend in Christchurch for both boys and girls. 16 boys teams and 10 girls teams apparently.
Draw is out for napier would say group c looks the weaker one....

Thank you!
Does anyone know what size squads are allowed to be?
Pretty sure it's 18 man squads. Reckon FC2011 will be a good chance to make it out of group stage.

Thanks for that, heard talk of Lower Hutt taking two teams but see they aren't on the Satellite draw. So guess it will be the best 18 across there teams.
I believe one team in Wellington is relying on the Ivan England tournament to get around the "guest player" rule and bring in a bunch of players who have been registered/playing for other clubs all winter.
I believe they are not able to do that. Anyone want to shed any light?
My understanding is that to NOT be a guest you have to:
a) be registered for the club you're playing for AND b) play 2 games for them (Ivan England games count here)...

Don't think Napier have ever allowed any club to take two teams.
There you go then, maybe been making false promises to the development team. Or people were miss informed.

to qualify as a club player you must have played 1 game for that club BEFORE 1st of September.
If people are keen i can post up the Napier rules via dropbox?
Is it really worth this hassle of routing the rules for this tournament. What do you get other than your name on the trophy?

Watch out for Hamilton Wanderers as dark horses in the main draw. They won the Northern League Premier Reserve Division this year. They will basically have the same team . Good young side

You can not be registered to another club

see if that works.
... Interesting development
So how are Wests going to legitimately fit in their pick-and-mix of wgtn players?

Agree they will have competive side in a tough pool, however the players are being asked to pay $600 each. I know some of the player and their parents are not happy about that.

Holy f**k. Are they flying in and out each day on a G5 or something?
This tournament is the best in the country, should be once again another great tournament with some close games in the latter stages no doubt.
Which 'guest' players, who've never played for the club, will cashmere have this year? #playerrecruitmentstrategy

Not sure of tournament rules but pretty sure you are allowed X (3?) number of guest players; ie dont have to have played for the club before. Cashmere do this every year, part of retaining their status in top tier of tournament (and might positively influence player decision about which club he plays for next year).
