Rules here

The Manchester United Premier Cup (MUPC) gives talented under fifteen year olds the chance to show off thier skills and come up against other footballers from around the globe. Over 9000 clubs globally take part in the MUPC for the chance to make the final 20 teams at the World Finals in July and August. Two New Zealand finalists will playoff in Australia for the Regional Finals on 2nd and 3rd April 2011.

There are quite strict rules around Eligibilty for the MUPC, primarily that the team you play for in the MUPC you must play for during the 2011 season. The Player Eligibilty in the MUPC 2011 regulations state:-

4.6.  Players participating in the MUPC 2011 can only play for the club with which they have entered the competition for the 2011 season. A player will be deemed to be cup tied once he has played a match for the Club in the MUPC 2011. For clarity this will mean any player who plays for a club in any part of the MUPC 2011 must remain with that club for the duration of the 2011 winter season. Any request for transfer will be at the sole discretion of NZF and made in accordance with NZF Regulation 5 para 6 d (h).

Capital Football has outlined below the possible exceptions to the rule above. The exceptions are necessary because of the club/college split in Wellington. Exceptions are allowed to make it fair to both clubs and colleges.

The following eligibility for the MUPC is for the winter 2011 season and covers all Capital Football-run competitions, including U17, U19 (Ivan England) and U21.

A player playing for a club (non-college) team i.e. Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Western Suburbs can only play Senior Football for that same club. No exceptions will be allowed.

If a player is playing for Wellington College or Onslow College in the MUPC and is a 15th Grade player then they are free to play for any CF Senior club during the 2011 season.

If the player is 14th Grade and playing for Wellington College in the MUPC then this player MUST play for WC in CF competitions.

If the player is 14th Grade and are playing for OC in the MUPC then they are free to play for any CF Junior Club that have not entered the MUPC, as long as OC do not have a team in CF competitions. Therefore they could not play for Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt or Western Suburbs at a Junior level.

If a player is playing for a club in the MUPC then they are free to return to play for the college, unless it is at 14th grade then the player must play for that club in CF competitions. This means they are ineligible for (in fact shouldnt be in) College Sport competitions.

Any club or coach that has any issue or needs any clarification with the above should contact Jamie Cross or me as soon as possible.

Subject: NIKE Cup - Southern Conference Final

I am pleased to confirm that this final will now be played in Wellington (venue to be confirmed) on Saturday March 12.

Attached are the flight details for a party of 20. 18 as per the official entry form plus an additional two non playing members. Coastal Spirit can use these seats for whatever purpose they wish but ideally we would hope that they are given to a couple of other kids or parents who wish to escape Christchurch for the day.

FFllight costs will be covered equally by NIKE and NZF.

Capital Football will provide the airport transfers, match venue and officials (3 point control)

Capital Football/Wellington College to provide after match meal.

 Technical aspects of the match:

 Team colours:

Wellington College: White Shirt/Black Short/Yellow Sock

Coastal Spirit: Black Shirt/ ?? Short/Black Sock Coastal Spirit will need to provide an alternate set of shorts

 Match Balls:

6 match balls are to be provided by NIKE

Extra time and penalties will apply in the event that the score is level at the conclusion of normal time etc as detailed in para 7.4 of the tournament regulations.

If either team has any questions that you are unsure of please do not hesitate to call me.

Kind regards and good luck to both teams.

That's very good form from NZF, Nike and Cap Football.

What's the bet that the Well Coll parent/manager who whinged about having to go to ChCh is now whinging that they didn't get offered a free trip. Ha!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Go Coastal! Anyone giving any live updates on the day? And what is this Wellington College team like? Do they all go to school there and play for other clubs? I saw something somewhere with random rules for the Wellington round. Not stirring just asking...

They're a pretty good side.  i watched them pull apart Upper Hutt in a Semi and they looked pretty slick and the Lower Hutt side they beat in the final were no donkeys in the semi they won against SMith's kids (Onslow)

Smithy can probably cover player elligibility better than me.

No, they all go to school there and play for the school.

In Wellington there is no 15th grade club competition, there is only a 15th grade school competition.

Which might lead you to ask why there are club sides from Wellington in the Manchester United Premier Cup, and not just school teams, to which I would say: good question.

Sounds (reads) like a good game.
Boys will be gutted, bring on next year, only 1 player out of the squad not eligible.

Was a very entertaining game.  The 20 minutes each way format is exciting.

Score was a fair reflection I reckon, which means good things for Canty next year if all their kids are 97s as someone has suggested.

Alot easier if your keeper doesn't slice a clearance to the feet of an opposition striker.
