The players are pursuing transfers now so that they are eligible. See the 2014 version of the rules (finalised in Dec. 2013!)

This established 30 Sept as the cut off date and removed reference to "who a player played the prior winter season for", which from memory was Fred de Jong's handy work.

4.6. Players can only play in the MUPC 2014 for the club with which they were registered as at 30 September 2013. After having made an appearance in any match in MUPC 2014, the player must then remain with that club for the duration of the 2014 winter season.
