thought the red card was harsh yellow at best, interesting tactics having Grant Young playing wide of a front 3. Thought the big scotsmen up front for shore was handy.

Jerzy Merino wrote:

I was there too. Shore derbies are often entertaining and Sunday's game continued the tradition. Eight goals, another disallowed, a red card, the League leaders twice coming from behind... Mayne's excocet free kick got things going nicely, and in defence Aaron Root - until he was sent off - was showing as much bite as a Uruguayan. Up front it was good to see old warhorse Grant Young leading the line (despite carrying as many years as the opposition combined). And Shore had their stars too. Defensive mid McClure is a monster, and not just for his startling resemblence to Meatloaf, while left wing Hector Hernandez, the Devonport  Ronaldo, was all aggrieved shrieks and feints and step-overs - even if the ball sometimes seemed to know where it was going more than he did.

Great game, great day out for Mum, Dad and the kids. ACFC v Waitak it ain't - let alone Spurs v the Arse. But for fun in the sun followed by a few beers and a ferry ride home, local derbies don't get much better than this.

Excellent, another Wanderers home game, you making the trip down to Porritt chopah?

I'll make some picks too, going HW 2-0 (admittedly haven't seen Ellersie this year), Sports 2-0, Olympic 2-2, Birko 4-0 and Central 1-0.

Apparently waitakere have been signing a handful this week..... I've watched ellerslie there playing some nice football, just not finishing chances......

yep coming down in the bus with the lads - it's our only trip of the year so we hope it's a good one.

Yeah we need to start hitting the back of the net - been impressed with our defense generally speaking but we do need to put some chances away.

Who are Waitakere signing - wouldn't be anyone from WU or ACFC would it with O-league still going on!

So many games cancelled, must have been torrential rain in Auckland.

Just got back from HW, 1-1 was the final score, bloody disappointing as they went ahead after about four minutes, dominated the first 60, Ellerslie looked pretty harmless, but Wanderers just failed to put them away, missing chance after chance and of course Ellerslie grabbed a late equaliser, they had more attack in the last 15 than the previous 75. Might see that as two points blown when it comes down to the end of the season, but credit to Ellerslie for battling and getting an important point.

Bay Olympic vs Three Kings called off at HT.  Bay up 2-0 after 2min and then 3-0 up after about 15.  All over Three Kings.  Two very naive pieces of defending saw Three Kings draw back to 3-2 and then another stupid piece of defending saw Three Kings awarded a penalty - which they duly scored but then had to retake and missed.  Pitch became badly flooded and it was correct to call it off.

Sports somehow conspired to lose 3-1 in a game they DOMINATED over Manurewa. Got quite dark and very wet but they still played on. Sports had a guy sent off for a wild lunge late in the piece and Brian Turner was swearing at every official he could find after the game. Comedy stuff considering they had no one to blame but their own strikers. Sports had a really good Asian kid in the middle of the field that is well and truly above this level.

Must have been some interesting decisions for Turner to be doing that! He's normally pretty quiet when it comes to the ref.

No one was really complaining from what I could see. I think he was ranting more about the weather and playing in it from what I oculd hear.

BT is not always a calm and quiet guy. I've seen him lose it a few times.

ok well closest club would be onehunga sports, down at Waikaraka Park, then the next closest premier league teams are Ellerslie and Three Kings, oh and Central.  I assume your looking at premier league?

Otherwise there is Metro and Mt Albert to the west, Springs to the North and Eastern Suburbs to the east in Div 1/2.

Sports, 3 Kings and Ellerslie in that order of proximity

I've seen all 3. In my opinion, you would probably get the most game time at Ellerslie. I don't say that to be disrespectful to Ellerslie at all. They have just been promoted this year and have a young team. No egos and no 'primas' and they would relish having an experienced player in their team (I base all of this off you playing 7 years of Central League). They are a good little side and a couple of experienced players will make a difference there. They have played some decent football, scrap well and gotten a couple of results.

I doubt you would break in at Sports at this stage as they look fairly settled. Three Kings are a bit of a funny lot in that the team can change year to year and there is no real loyalty.

But there will be, that's why it's the Cup. I see several surprises happening, just because the difference between Div 1/2 sides and WaiBOP Fed/AFF teams isn't that big. It's mainly amateurs v amateurs, anything could happen in most games (excluding the elite crop of Div 1 most likely - Glenfield, Ngarua etc)

Watched Birkenhead v Bay O...... Physical game which never got going.. Birkenhead scored against the run of play , Bay O miss a pen... Then a Bay players was sent with 25 to go Birkenhead score and should have had 5...Bay O score in injury time and then nearly grab a draw...thought  Bay O lost the heads a bit last 15......Birkenhead probably just deserved the Win .....Fantastic crowd down there...

First time I've seen nkoy for Birkenhead looked very lively...

Hamilton aren't as sound at the back as people would think. How is the liability there and his touch puts him under pressure. Their best assets are the 2 Chileans because they are 'outside the box' for typical NZ midfielders - they back themselves to hold the ball under pressure, not panic. Because of those two alone, Wanderers can afford to sit wider and not be as compact giving the other players space and freedom to play. Outside of that, what have they got? Ricky Broderson - hmmm. Mark Jones - you have to be utterly joking. They have some nice young no name kids whom without the Chilean boys, would get gazzumped by most sides.

The switch will only work so often Coss (as much as I like ya)
