So i hear that the US1 teams now want to re-enter the Northern League, about time will make it so much a better league and with 16 in each division makes the competition back to what we want ...roll on the Mighty Melville side

Yeah it's great to hear that the 3 Northern most Federations will have their best teams competing against each other once again.  It's a credit to those now running the game at these Federations that they have managed to put this league back together again without too much dissent.  It will be interesting to see the reaction of some of the US1 clubs who supported having their own league all this time whilst for Waitakere, East Coast Bays and Glenfield it will feel like all their efforts have been worthwhile protesting against the old US1 League.

There are some interesting changes afoot for the NRFL this season.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Speaking of interesting changes, we could finally have our own on-line community developing up north. A poster on my club's forum has highlighted this site: http://www.northernleagueforum.co.nz/

This site is a little basic at the moment but the potential's there. It'll be interesting to see what support it gets. My guess is it will take a little while to get going, but who knows.

Looks good. I've no doubt I'll be popping in there regularly once the season starts. Good work to whoever is responsible.

BTW, good luck for your season, Swiftly. Although, as I coach in the same league, I'm hopeful that you lose two games at least!

Does anyone know if there is any truth in the rumour that Chris Zoricich will be Player-Coach at Central United this season?

Well birkenhead played Onehunga Sports on sunday afternoon and drew 2 all, but the ref was awful and sports were all over them, I think sports will be up round the top of table this year.

I see Matamata's website came top of the Div 1 websites in the northern league forum's web ratings.

Now there's a huge surprise. NOT.

Jag, just started reading the NRFL forum, and I'm gobsmacked by the fact that players actually turn up and start fan threads about themselves. And in one case actually get their mum to back them up. Unless that's not really them but someone having a laugh.

It's basically the Waikato/BOP forum transferred to a new home. Same old rubbish, like the Matamata v Tauranga stuff.

The Div 1 forum isn't quite as bad the  Premier forum. That's just a load of rubbish, not worth reading.  All the muppets, particularly in the Premier forum, are making it not worth the effort to read. It's a shame cos I think it was a good idea to have a NRFL forum.

I'm just imagining what it would be like here if Leo Bertos turned up and made a post like this:

Hi there readers,

I have just been getting a little jealous that no one had brought my name up in any of the categories listed below... I think that I am very influential in the A-league and I know how to score the odd goal. I have even been talking to Melbourne Victory about playing for them but has anyone thought to bring up my name..... Nooooooooo they haven't! Come on - I am at least the best Greek player in the A-league!

I've only briefly looked at the Northern League forum but it looks to me like i'd be better served taking a bath in a lava pit than trawling through some of the sh*te on there.

Three for me, and two for them.

Well, considering that no-one's yet said they don't want the great unwashed polluting their glorious home ground which should be reserved only for an elite knitting circle, it's less annoying than the ACFC forum.

Jag is right, less bullsh1t on the Div 1 forum, which is fine by me as that's where my club plays.Doloras2010-03-19 11:06:09

Without being too defensive (me, that is...) can you name a better site from any of the NRFL clubs? And, if so, why?

I'd have to look at them all and I couldn't really face doing that, but it's certainly much better than your arch enemies, Tauranga and Cambridge!! I like your site, I wasn't knocking it, just expressing my opinion that, given the not very well hidden origins of the NRFL site, I wasn't hugely surprised to see your site coming top, without having to look at any other sites.

As for posting on the NRFL site, I have done but as I don't come from Hamilton, and I don't know Steven Holloway, I feel a bit excluded! I've said earlier that it's a great idea having an NRFL site, and there's some interesting stuff on it, it's just that the huge amount of drivel on there makes it hard work sometimes. In my humble opinion, of course. Although it seems that some others might share that opinion

Looks like your mob went well last week. I fancy you to take the 3 points this weekend. Jag2010-03-26 23:56:57

Completely agree. Matamata's site is excellent, Tauranga City's website is pretty average, and that's coming from a TCU supporter!

Narra's website is usually pretty good. Updated regularly and with plenty of pics.

Our website is f**king sh*te unfortunately.

I watched Bay Olympic vs Wanderers yesterday.

Bay Olympic missing quite a few on the Seaman junket, but all around the game was pretty damn ugly.  Awful finishing from Wanderers, and some good saves from the Bay keeper resulted inWanderers picking up a 1-1 draw with the last kick of the game.

How's my driving? - Whine here
