Just got rather odd email from Cap Footy saying yesterdays email (I didnt get one yesterday)didnt explain the Paekakariki situation. Then went on to describe from cap 3 down bottom 3 teams get relegated this season. What is the Paekakariki situation? & Is it curable?

At a guess they won the Horowhenua Kapiti grade which gives them the option of promoting direct to Cap 3 which they have exercised. I think both they and the Wairarapa grade winners have that option.
(This is a complete guess and could be completely off).

That's the 'Te Horo situation'

It means if Paekakiriki won the league, then chose to enter Cap 3, the team that ended up 8th, 9th and 10th in Cap 3 down get relegated.Nth Well, Karori Cougars and Brooklyn out of Cap 3, Naenae, Stokes Valley and Eastbourne from Cap 4 go down etc etc

If wairarapa United pull their Cap 4 team, it may save grace for Naenae and things would stay the same in the grades below

Winners of Horowhenua and Wairarapa have the right to enter Mens Div 3. With Paikok in Div 3 this year, what happens to the 2011 winner of Horo league especially will this 2011 winner be promoted to Div 3 as well in 2012?

If they want to be I would imagine so.

Not likely as winner of the league is likely to be a KCU, Waikanae, or Paikakariki team who don't want anymore town teams. Otherwise Otaki or Levin who I assume would head to palmy leagues?

I know Levin won the Manawatu Div 1 (old MidCentral) last season. Don't know about Otaki.

Nice to see Paekak in the Capital mix, theyre not that far out of Pori (where I live) so good to see another local club moving things forward.
On a side note, anyone know how far away the draw is?

A proposal is out at clubs for comment now. I assume it won't be until they've at least got some comment back.Mr Blobby2011-02-02 19:31:36

I have a good feeling they will give some teams a touch up this year!!!
Watch out for them

I hope so but if theyre anything like Villa or Waikanae they'll be pretty average.
Waikanae to be relegated from Cap2 this season. You heard it here first.

My sources tell me that they have a few Capital Premier players from last years useless KCU team that was relegated a few Capital 1 players and a few players that have already played in Capital 3... good side but playing socially, training once a week and they are all about drinking and having fun.
They will be nothing like Waikanae because everyone hates Waikanae and they may even play Waikanae pre season and teach them a lesson.
Anyone know who else will be in Capital 3???

Im guessing Cap 3 to resemble something like this...
Marist
Karori Vistas
Island Bay
Lower Hutt City
Petone
Douglas Villa
Kapiti Coast United
Paekakariki
Lower Hutt Ancient Ones
Petone Armanis
The red teams being those relegated from Cap 2 and blue teams being those who have won promotion.

Don't the Ancient Ones and the Armanis normally turn down promotion???

I thought the clubs have turned down promotion on their behalves before to send up 'third teams'. Not sure where it would stand now. Hard News2011-02-03 15:23:01

Looks like Cap 3 is the new big travel league. DV, Kapiti and Paekak.
Its no longer a problem.

In my opinion they shouldnt be allowed to, for two reasons being:
1. They both breezed through Cap 4 and are far too good for that league, and from memory were in Cap 3 in '09 anyway... so its not like they havent been there before.
2. We're talking Cap3/Cap4 here, not 13/14. If they want to play social football (which by the sounds of it they do, by not wanting to be promoted..) they should be taken down to the bottom tier so that these spots can be given to teams who want to play competitively.

Yes, because the way to keep people engaged in the bottom tear is to have them spanked by a dozen goals four times a season. They should play where they get competitive matches, it's what they want and it's better for the improvement of sides they play against.

CF should just tell them that theyre going to Cap3 and thats that.

Wouldn't the easiest solution with the least mucking around be to make Cap 3 an 11 team grade and just have a bye round? This way no rejigging of all other teams
Permalink

You would think so but its hard enough completing a season as it is (weather) without an extra two games tacked onto a season.

Agree. That is also why they decided to scrap the play-offs at the end of the season.
So no chance of an 11-team league imo.

Completing any leagues should be a breeze this season. There should be 4 turfs up and running by mid year and CF will have them all booked up before you know it and we'll be playing 24/7 to pay the bill. The season could be all over by July!
Cap 3 should be good one. 2 Lower Hutts, 2 Petones will probably be in the top 6 if both clubs get there sh^t sorted sooner rather than the week before the season starts.

Ive heard that one of those Petone teams has a dodgy coach/manager and is more likely to be in the bottom 2.

Quite possibly but neither Petone team is interested in bottoms.
