And with another season, comes Uncle Steve and his bag of tricks.

Olympic to win the League.
Wests to finish Mid Table.
Miramar to die a horrible death.

Olympic were miles ahead in preperation/organisation and almost full strength. they were sharp and we were not. 22-0 bit over the top but maybe 10-0. five or so were scored in the last 15-20. not keen on making excuses but it was a training game and we didn't even have a keeper/someone who can catch a ball.

Fuck this stupid game

The Bubbles

Chatham Cup: check.  Yellow Fever Club Championships: check.  Central League: fail. You forgot to mention the O'Brien Sheild... AND YES THEY DID FINISH THE SEASON UNBEATEN  26 GAMES
 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will this finally be Olympic's year for the League?  In both 2008 and 2009 they made tremendous starts in the League and were early pace setters before the wheels fell off. I do think that you are talking about a different team here...especially in 2009 we had 6 draws on the trot....that doesn't make it "a tremendous start"  in 2008 it was coaching trouble,.....??????you mean 2007 .... but in 2009 they peaked early and couldn't hang with the consistent pace set by Wests. Do you call 7 draws on the trot picking early....???? Hmmmmmm may be you have been "parked" for too long...!!!!

Under co-coach Simon George and Craig Hopkins though the 2009 Olympic team was a squad with more unity than most.  Blessed with quality all across the park.

Whether they can maintain last season's momentum though remains to be seen.  In the scandal of the summer George Barbarouses has moved to Wairarapa United following a niggly money-related blowout.  Olympic's loss is undoubtedly Wairarapa's gain - Barbarouses was one of the two or three best players in last year's Central League and has had a strong season at Hawkes Bay United in the NZFC: after being unwanted by Team Wellington YOU MEAN TEAM UNITED NATIONS ....  he came back to haunt them scoring the winning goal for HBU against TW at Newtown Park.

Otherwise it is likely to be a largely unchanged Olympic side that walks out in 2009 YOU MEAN 2010.......  That is no bad thing though.  Key players like captain Mikey Halikias, cultured central defender (and former axe-wielding murderer) Barry Lewis and improbable goal scoring machine Micky Malivuk all return.  The question remains though whether the loss of Barbarouses will diminish Olympic from title contenders to a beat-anyone-on-their-day mixed bag.

We're back, with a slight change of format.  No more boring match previews where we slag the same players endlessly.  Now we will just look at what's interesting in the local scene for the weekend ahead.

Check it out here. Or click on the Park Life button on the right.

just read the first paragraph of this:

Park Life wrote:
Georges Remi will have been looking down from heaven beaming with pride as the embodiment of his cartoon creation, Matt Calcott, claimed the O'Brien Shield for Miramar last Sunday. Mrs Mac probably wouldn't have been quite so full of pride at the decision of her creation, Jamie Cross, to call the game off with 5 minutes to go. Olympic chairman George Neonakis is rumoured to be offering spectators a part refund of their ticket price. Miramar face their first challenge for the Shield on Saturday against shock-not-bottom-of-the-table Tawa. (Dave Farrington Park, Saturday, 2.30pm)

Are we sure Park Life is not a female?  The funny jokes and correct spelling suggest that it cannot be one of the males from here.
