The council need a rev up the state of the ground in Wgtn is so poor and the neglect over the years is now coming home to roust.  We have not had a bad winter as it goes but the ground lack the basics which nean they do not drain well.

There is major reveiw on sports ground for the next decades expenditure plan being carried out by the council. We need to let the know we want good grounds this is election year.

Fax -  Email - Talk to the candidates - Make it and election issue.

We need grounds that when   upgrade they do it right, not just level a few bumps and throw seed on top.

...you should try most other places in New Zealand.

Wellington is luxury compared to the likes of Hamilton.

Even more so after Conrad  face planted after final whistle- HA!

And Trafalgar is is history after Salmon VS Stop Out There yesterday-

what we have to remember though is that Football is a winter game and, duh, it rains in winter- we were actually quite lucky thios year first 10 rounds or so were perefect weather on dry, hard pitches.
Now the fields are fuct with only a few rounds remaining

Councils know enuff to get them sorted- a tip about that manure smelling mud though, it can lead to soime pretty nasty infections so make sure you clean it off proepr like, before you head out to the pub for the post match debrief

Atended 3 games yesterday. Wgtn College field was worst (who cares), looked like it hadnt been mowed since summer.
Both Petone 1 and Bell were ok for this time of year. After all there's only a few weeks left for most of you guys.

A dog with a bone :)

Yeah, they should follow the lead taken at Karori Park. NOT (in my best Khazkstani accent). Spend millions on the facilities cause that really paid off (sic).

Its no longer a problem.

give it time toffeeman, apparantley it's a case of the ground underneath being way to hard and not soaking up any water - should get better as more and more games are played on it and the lower level soil loosens up a touch, is going to be a dream of a park to play cricket on....first class even

Played at Newlands on Saturday, big patches of slushy mud in the middle and a hole which the ref asked to be filled up,  but besides that it was fine - ha.  Ofcourse better drainage would help alot of the pitches but I think more regular maintenance by the council is also needed. Plus everybody knows where the crap fields are in Welly but it still seems that alot of these parks are over used e.g Trafalgar had 2 junior and 2 senior games on it and it just stuffs an otherwise really good pitch.

They should use Brian Heath in Wainuiomata. I live next door and its in mint condition. Some weeks it doesn't even have a kids games on it. They should put the odd game there to avoid wrecking all the grounds. chrfit2007-08-17 22:13:34
