Questions for a new guy

Hey everyone

I have just moved up to Welly/Hutt from Christchurch, and am trying to get my head around the footy scene up here. I've got myself hooked up with Upper Hutt (should be in goal for their first team, unless some catastrophe occurs), 1. because I am living and teaching in the Upper Hutt and 2. Because it was just easy :P.

I've played decent level in Chch (basically equivalent to the Champs Premierbut with a team more like Tawa in results, and also a year being reserve golaie for the equivalent of Miramars team - Western from Chch). So what should I be expecting out of the competition in the Champs grade, what will Hilton Petone be like... what the hell is the Ivan England competition?

Any advice and suggestions/information would be greatly appreciated, cheers

Welcome Adam, and you have chosen a club that needs a keeper.
Hilton Petone for a goalie  is a nightmare as the grounds are rock hard and the upper hutt keepers normally  have plenty to do.

you won't have to worry about Ivan england...it's a 19 tournament at the end of the season.

yo,
1st, get some keeping pants unless you want some nasty grass burns ,
2nd ivan england comp is a end of season comp for the u/19s (if you are a teacher im guessing your to old)
3rd if you get sick of u/hutt you can always go to l/hutt, they always have a lack of keepers (3 injured last year)
4th have fun as it always is at this time of year (not)

If he's at Upper Hutt, won't he end up at Lower Hutt anyway!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

haha, cheers boy.

Yeah yeah, I've already heard the typical stoner banter about Upper Hutt, and the whole Lower Hutt stealing players (we've got clubs like that to in Chch). The goalie pants are on order as we speak!

And well Tawa came second last year in the prem, I thought it was a good comparison :P

I'm just glad we are doing game practice at training now, and less fitness!

Hey, enjoy your time at UH.

I always liked Upper Hutt and spent many an enjoyable time in the Clubrooms there. Just make sure you get yourself along to the 'cocktail' night later in the season!!

Barber you are a knob !!

I hardly think with your wonderful football career you are in a position to have a chew at anyone.

I have always found Tawa a good bunch, apart from a couple there now. However, spending so much time on the bench over the last few years does give you a decent view of proceedings.

Lets keep things resonably mature on here can we.

Also, weather looks ok for Sunday, see if you can't get a little sun on that body of yours!!
