Sunday 4th April
Seatoun v Marist, Seatoun Park 1pm

This Sunday is the inaugural Sara Jane Vasey Memorial Cup match to be played in remembrance of Sara who passed away tragically and unexpectedly on July 8th 2009. Sara was a great footballer who always worked extremely hard on the pitch and as such was not a just a teammate but a close friend to those who knew her. Sara had played all of her senior football for Seatoun AFC and also played a number of years for the Capital Womens Federation team. Sara became well known and respected in Wellington womens club football by both her team and her opposition.

The Memorial Cup is to be contested annually between the Seatoun and Marist Womens Central League teams at the venue of the holders of the trophy in the first home game of the season As donors of the trophy Seatoun host the inaugural game and the first round draw this Sunday has these two teams pitted against each other. All football supporters are invited to come along to Seatoun Park for the 1pm kick off and support the cup match in celebration of a great friend and footballer

I worked with Sara. She was a great chick and her death was a real shock to everyone who knew her.

This is a nice initiative.

It is a good initiative, Guy.

Well done to all concerned - a nice way to acknowledge a young lady who, from the few times I saw her in action, struck me as a real "steady Eddie" type of player upon whom her team-mates could always rely to do her job well.

Cheers,

Does anyone know what the score was for this game?
Results not on capital football website.
Do you think we can fine them for not publishing the results quickly?

Agree entirely, Bun1 - the federation was the same last season, with regard their lack of timeliness in posting results.

Imagine if they were this tardy when it comes to posting the men's results ...

Dunno where you're coming from with the "bit harsh" bit, Guy. That's the memory I have of Sara - whether you agree or not matters not to me.

Considering they have doubled all the fines for not phoning in results and sending in team cards I think it is a bit rich for them not to get the results on the website in a timely manner. "One rule for you but we can do whatever we like"

Wrong spelling, Guy. Try "Steady Eddie", the nickname of the late snooker legend Eddie Charlton, who earned that nickname through the consistency of his performances over many years.

Not so harsh, eh?

BTW, I've left a message on Cliff Bowden's mobile to update the website with today's women's results. As he's responsible for Capital Football's communications, it's his responsibility to make this sort of thing happen on a timely basis.

Surely it's not too much to expect all results to be up and tables updated by 6.30pm on Saturdays and 5.30pm on Sundays? Those are the deadlines I set myself for updating Scoreboard, and that's covering the entire country, not just one federation.

Cheers,

JR, In my days the dealines I was given were, CL 4.50, Local mens 5.45 and on sundays 4.10 for both men and women .

There was a clause in the admin of the CL, that results were to be on the site by 5pm, I dont know it this is still the case.

I think results are low on Cliffs list of things to do.
