They look bloody awesome Bruce.

Upper Hutt continuing to improve spectator experience with a new Gas Patio Heater for the Parapine Platform. Not a lot I know but when a match kicks off at 5.30 in the evening it actually makes quite a difference.

You might not recognise Gower Park these days, Hard.

Changed quite a bit since your era. New No 1 surface, pop-up irrigation, three floodlit pitches, two changing blocks, five terrace units, new pathways, clubrooms deck, dugouts etc.

The paved area underneath was completed using second-hand pavers recycled from Hamilton Lake walkway upgrade just up the road.

So basically you pinched the pavers from the Hamilton Lake Walkway?

We showed initiative in assisting the council find a suitable logistical community solution in recycling its assets from one civic-owned property to another. :-)

I only originally mentioned this because it was a good example of how community clubs can sometimes get stuff done cheap when they are proactive and, er, well integrated in their neighbourhood.

love it…..
to often today it's pay, pay, pay, and in my day it was help, find, contribute, and it works to make a club that people take ownership of rather than expect it all laid on as they have paid at the door…..
once again i love what you did and how you did it...

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

um because a stadium for a man and a dog is a bit extravagant?

I'd settle for some windbreaks.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I like those covered dugouts from Melville #2
I could build something like that here quite easy.

As long as it doesn't take up any green space.

What about the children? Building a covered stand might take away more green space and I won't be able to walk my dog I don't have.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The lack of lighting will affect training and matches at Wakefield Park with daylight savings ending this weekend.

However, the local MP, Annette King's electorate of Rongotai includes the Chatham Islands (which are in a different timezone to mainland New Zealand).

King is to seek leave in Parliament today (Wednesday 01 April 2015) to introduce the "Rongotal Time Zones (Temporary) Alignment Bill" to have the timezone in the rest of the Rongotai electorate (Island Bay, Berhampore, Miramar, Kilbirnie, Lyall Bay etc) match that of the Chathams.

Essentially, residents in the non-Chathams part of the the electorate will turn their clocks back only 1/4 hour this weekend. This will stay in place until the Wakefield Park floodlights are repaired.

It is possible that some other MP (it only takes one) could object to the leave to introduce the Bill. If King got wind that leave may be denied, she may decide not to even mention the Bill and it would not ever be heard of again.

Therefore it is important that, this morning, you all throughout the country, contact your local and list MPs and urge them to support the introduction and urgent passage of the Rongotal Time Zones (Temporary) Alignment Bill.
