Don't know the current situation with Steve, but the delays in Registrations could have interesting repercussions for the first round of the Chatham Cup, and the required time that players need to be with a club.

After settling his dispute with Mr Palmer, by accepting the gagging order that Mr Palmer sought to place on Steve giving advise to clubs, working with the other staff to get "people kicking a ball" this weekend , and believing that the situation was put in abeyance, if not over, Steve was served with a formal notice of a Disciplinary Investigation.
He has now resigned.
I don't know if this is the end of the legal matters, so I will not comment.
As far as I am concerned the mater is all over, if I was to take it any further the only winners would be the lawyers and it would be the clubs/players that would have to fit the bill for CF lawyers.
I just hope the CF office can at least fulfill their obligation to have a smooth season.
Best of luck for the season and it was a pleasure working with people that had faith in my ability.

In the interests of supplying the correct information, here is Mr Palmer's email to clubs and schools.
Hello Clubs and Schools
Those of you involved in senior football will have had many dealings I'm sure with Steve Stevens, our Seniors Administrator. Steve has resigned as of yesterday and we need to therefore advise of some immediate changes in contact points and the like.
For at least the interim period Jamie Cross will take over most of the "core services" to senior football. Jamie will therefore be producing draws, recording results, publishing tables and the like. Cliff Bowden will take over the administration of player transfers and registrations. Jamie will still be involved in junior football, but less so as we take on a part-time administrator in that area, and refereeing. Contact details are:
Jamie Cross; 586 5817; 021 222 6846; jamie@capitalfootball.org.nz
Cliff Bowden; 586 5810; 021 222 6849; cliff@capitalfootball.org.nz
RESULTS - NEW PHONE NUMBERS
As from today we have new telephone numbers for people to ring results into for senior football:
Central League and (Champs) Premier Leagues (men's and women's): 021 222 6846
All other senior football (men's and women's): (04) 586 5810
The Juniors number is unchanged: (04) 586 5817
Please advise all your senior teams, or people responsible for phoning in results, of these new numbers. We'll post them on our website as well. We accept that the message probably won't get to everyone in time for this weekend, but please do your best. With such a quick changeover there is a real chance that we won't have all results up on the website this weekend - just the ones that have been phoned in. We would hope that this is just a one-weekend blip in normal service, and people will have got to grips with the new phone numbers once they've seen that their results were missing this weekend.
The cancellations process remains unchanged; Newstalk ZB is the final word on a Saturday morning.
Clearly losing Steve's experience so close to the start of the season creates a few challenges for us. We would be grateful for Clubs' support of the folks here who are picking up some new responsibilities at very short notice. It is inevitable that we will make mistakes. We will be doing our utmost to minimise those mistakes and maintain business as usual; you can help us by pointing out significant problems if they arise. Even more useful would be suggestions regarding anything coming up that maybe we're not focusing on as we change over.
One specific thing you can help us with is centralising your Club's requests around transfers and registrations. This is not a "transition issue"; for some time we've been receiving requests and queries from all sorts of different people. Please make one person in your Club responsible for registrations and transfers and stick with that person. Thanks.
The purpose of this e-mail is purely functional, to ensure a smooth changeover in the running of senior football. The urgency is obvious, with the season starting tomorrow. At a later point I'd like to recognise the huge contribution that Steve has made to getting senior football played in our region, often against all odds, over a period of about 20 years.
Thanks for your support
Regards
Keith

My understanding is that Olympic's motion had sufficient support to force an SGM. The Board approached them to find out what was required to solve the issue before it got to a meeting (and I mean this in a positive, not negative way).
As a result of discussions it was agreed that John Beldham would be the third person on the selection panel, as the Clubs' advocate, which was the origninal desire for those calling for the SGM. At this point, the need for a SGM was seen as unnecessary and the motion was withdrawn.
We have an agreement that all junior football under 14th grade will be the responsibility of the clubs, 15th and over be left in the hands of Colleges and College Sport. However, Wellington College have always played in Capital Football leagues from about 14th grade, and this has continued for them as a 'special case'.
Yesterday my son's team played Wellington College in 14th Grade Promo, and at the end of a great game, the score was a 3-2 win. However, the draw was that we were supposed to play Karori.
It appears that we now have 3 teams from Wellington College of the 19 teams featuring in the top two CF 14th Grades.
The impression I got when I spoke to parents and supporters of the 'College' team was that they had no idea they were supposed to be a Karori team. They wore college strip, had jackets and bags with college labeling, and all the parents were cheering 'Go College'.
The team names have been updated since the draw was done, so the results now read
14th Grade JPL Wellington College
14th Grade Promo- Wellington College Gold
14th Grade Promo Karori/Wellington College so this has apparently been done with the agreement of Capital Football.
Over the years, I have been at meetings where larger junior clubs have requested a change to the rules so that they can put more than two teams in JPL/Promo leagues, and this has always been voted down by the clubs. One time it was being discussed it was suggested (tongue in cheek) that Upper Hutt should badge some of their team Tararua and others Upper Hutt, to remain within the regulations. This was laughed off as not being within the spirit of the leagues. Well how come Wellington College are allowed to do it?
This actually has a long-term impact on College football. Currently, it gives Wgtn College an advantage over the others because their teams are playing together a year before everyone else, so that when every other college who sticks by the the agreement starts putting their teams together at 15th Grade, WC have already had their top 3 teams game hardened, and rearing to go.

Sounds like making governance up on the fly to me.
The clubs already have their advocates on the Board - the three elected Board members. The Federation rules don't say anything about a club representative having to be on the selection panel for a new CEO. In fact there doesn't even have to be a selection panel, only "a proper recruitment process". It is entirely up to the Board (including the three elected members representing the clubs) to decide what that means.
The Board hasn't done anything wrong here but there are a minority of clubs in Wellington who wish to have more say over CF affairs than they currently have - despite the fact that they are a minority.
In this case the Board seem to have sensibly defused the situation with a compromise that they did not really have to make. It does set a precedent, however. What other meddling in the operational affairs of CF by a minority of clubs will now be allowed?
We all love to bag CF and the CF Board but I can't help but think what a waste of time this type of thing is, especially at such a busy time of year (even though it didn't get all the way to an SGM). I'm sure CF could do a much better job of their "core business" if all the complainers just learnt to shut the f**k up and exercise their rights through the democratic processes that are already in place and seem to work well.
Footnote: I thought it would be really easy to quickly check the CF rules but unless I'm a total muppet they are not on the CF website!!?? I eventually found them on the Companies Office website in the Incorprated Societies register and even that was a challenge - they are under "No.5 District Federation of NZ Soccer". The CF rules should definitely be on the CF website! Especially if you expect people to be aware of and follow the rules.

I think the point you're missing TX is that there is an upset minority becuse CF are NOT doing a good job (in their view) of their core business.
You've got your chicken and egg the wrong way around. If CF were performing to their members' satisfaction then none of this would ever have arisen.
I think you're right that it's an unfortunate waste of time and effort, but the fault for it doesn't lie with the upset clubs.

Salmon swim upstream
Meaning, by process of deduction, that all three of the sitting Board members who stood - David Meiklejohn, Matt Snaddon and Jim Murphy, have been re-elected.
I can hear the champagne corks popping at Wellington United as I type.
And Salmon07 - yes, it is.
edit - oops...
