the appropriately named Wakefield number 2 was also like this on Saturday. A Cap Prem game for f's sake!!!! I seriously think Karori would have been better, let alone Newtown 1 where we were transferred from. Bitter? yes.

I'm not asking for Old Trafford, I'm saying a Cap Prem game shouldn't be played on a swamp. Newtown is in much better shape than Wakefield 2 [which, if wasn't already buggered before, is now] and that just shows that it wasn't transferred there in the interest of the game but rather to preserve Newtown. Capital Football 'mare tbf.

I think you're missing my point. I realise that the council transfer the games to preserve the better pitches and I'm fine with that [that's their job done] but it's CF who decide on whether a pitch is suitable to play a game of higher level football on. They need to step in at some point. I heard the ref flirted with calling the game off at one point but I can't figure out why he didn't. Unless he was told that ALL Cap Prem games are to go ahead.

Meh, I guess we got the rough end of the stick on this occasion. We'll just have to adjust to playing swamp footy [Karori were much better than us!] if we want to win the league.TopLeft072010-07-01 16:27:30

I know topleft is ranting, but would just like to chip in and say it was the same for other Prem teams to. Marist played Wests on Alex Moore 2, after another game as well. It was just ridiculous.

And to top it off, there were two games being played on the much better condition and sheltered Alex Moore 1 by much lower grade teams.

Dont wanna sound like a pretentious prat, but surely the whole point of a premier grade is to play on okish surfaces. Not look like bog football

Yeah my point exactly. I know other grades pay subs as well etc but at some point the higher leagues have to take priority. I'm sure other clubs will agree.

But yeah, done with this rant. For now.

PS. We were the same tlnomad. You should have seen the state of the shuttle bus we got from Wakefield back to Newtown...mad mad driver. Not to mention the poor dry cleaners.TopLeft072010-07-01 16:59:31

Of course I wouldn't. No one would complain after a win but I bet if you ask your boys they'd say it was a fairly dodgy call to let the game go ahead.

Theres a worse ground than Karori, it goes by the name of Happy Valley 1. Rather ironic the name really... it was like playing in porridge. There was no box at the southern end either, made for some rather interesting goal keeping

We got moved to Hutt Park from Happy Valley on Saturday.  Thank you Capital Football.
