Who is the guy at the council who was responsible for not unlocking the gates at Te Whaea and making  players climb the fence to get in this Saturday  morning  ?
The council refused to open the gates for the teams (Island bay 8.30am and Brooklyn 10am)    who had legitimately
l booked and paid for  the pitches !
Evidently the reason given was that we might drive our cars over the pitch ,which would be an amazing feat in itself given the slim gap between the car park and the changing room even if we decided that motcross was a better option than football !
Whoever this plum is he really has to take a look at himself and get a life ,masters footy can be pretty undignified at the best of times without having to clamber over a five mtr fence ,I nearly ripped my balls of !

It has two entrances you know.

That one is meant to be clear for emergency services.

Well that's a lot of arse ,how come during the week at twilight football the gates are open ?
People park there cars there and there's  heaps of room  for ambulances etc to get through , it's a carpark ffs, you could drive a Panzer tank division  through it even when it's full  !
I reckon that who ever has the job of opening the gate just couldn't be arsed getting out of their scratcher on a Saturday morning !
The tradesmans entrance might be your preference  mate  but I'm trying to manage a group of elite athletes that are  the Island Bay Masters Originals  ,climbing 3000 steps before a game is a seriously bad idea and  is more likely to create a need ambulances than anything else is   !

Plus the obvious - how is the ambulance supposed to get through a locked gate anyway?

Because they have a key?  Plenty of field have locked gates that get opened when an ambo requires access.

I've been there a few times when people have created a 3 row of cars down the middle of the carpark.

Still can't why you can't use the other access stairs.  I have to do it every friday night with two ball bags, a gear bag, and two sets of cones.

I had 13 whinging ball bags with me !
And that doesn't explain the council's reason that they are worried about people driving over the park ,absolute pants !Kiwi Jambo2012-03-12 22:42:06

Fair enough then! You do have to have one entrance completely clear. Since that is the only one, its unfortunate but can kind of understand it.

Okay but they should at least have a defibrillator at the top of the steps or a small licensed bar !
