That's a shame. Ross is a good bloke. I'd be surprised if the blame is all his for their current predicament.
Who is the second team coach?
Smithy2009-06-10 15:40:53Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

He sure is. He has done a fark load for the club. More than most people know. I certainly don't blame him. He's not the one making errors and conceding late goals.

That is a great shame as Rosco is a great guy and inspirational coach. The younger players look up to him as he tells it like it is. He is Better than most and Diamonds wont be the same.

From the diamonds web:
After much consideration Wellington Uniteds Ross Durant has decided to step down as
coach of the clubs Central League team. At the halfway mark of the season United are
at the foot of the Central League table. Assistant coach, Dean Holmes, holder of the
UEFA coaching licence, will take over the team for the remainder of the season.
Club chairman Ken Allen has paid tribute to Ross commitment to the club over the last
five years and his comprehensive support of the senior teams, the Under 19 team and
his outstanding rapport with members of the club. He has been a pleasure to work
with and his professional and thorough approach to the game has been outstanding. We
are deeply appreciative of his time and effort with the team over the last five years.
However, he is also aware of the present situation, and as a club legend himself
believes it is time for a change with the best interests of the club at heart.
Few coaches in the Central League would match Durant for accolades and
achievements, being the winner of four Rothmans National League Championships from
the 1970s with Christchurch United (twice) and then with Wellington Diamond United in
1981 and again in 1985, then as captain of the team. Additionally he represented New
Zealand on 16 occasions.

tis a shame, life goes on. sad fact is "SPATS" ( YOU HAVE TO BE OLD TO REMEMBER THIS ONE ) hasn't been the same club since the early nineties. bring back the all-niters after training weeknites. come to think of it the cheerleaders would be a welcome sight again. lots of back-stabbing riddles this clubs history. hate to say it and don't mean anyone offence, but been there & seen it. kudos to all the honest hard working loyal members who have the club at heart. lets hope the ole girl don't sink. but hey, it might be part of deans 3-year plan!!!!! S.O.S.
