Your thoughts on todays cancellations?? Is this weather worse than what it was in round 3? No.

Im pretty guttered to be honest, have played in much worse conditions (ie vs Miramar Rangers at Fraser Park last season). We were due to play at trafalgar and apparanetly its still in pretty good knick considering.

We have had basically a good solid 5 months of dry weather and one nite of steady rain and its cancelled, and why are the authorities so quick on the trigger??

The lateness of the decision is more to the point.  Several of my team turned up for a cancelled match as they had left home before the cancellation decision (doing other things between home and the game).  Sometimes it is not possible to contact everyone during the day. Once we are past 9.30 it should stay on.

We had 9 from our team turn up at our 12.30 game (away) before someone turned up and told us it was off. As above, why leave the decisson so late.

Because the concils said, grounds closed.

Capital Soccer try to keep things going, but if the grounds are yanked from under them there is nothing they can do.

surely the council have to use some common sense?

I agree with the "Once we are past 9.30 it should stay on" statement.

Dont think it was a problem cancelling games, just the lateness of it.

How many people found out when they got to their games instead of earlier in the morning. It hardly rained after 8am here in the Hutt so why would it take till 10.45 to work out the grounds were out. Surely at this stage of the season, having had no cancellations already, its an easy option to pull the plug early and save the grounds.

Send all your accounts to Capital soccer - or the councils who pulled the plug . Any transport costs or cell phone costs should be pass on.Cancelling AT 10.45 IS A JOKE, I know of one team that had travel 25 k for a 12.30 kick-off to find it was a total waste of time and money to get there. After 10.00am games should be on or off.Capital soccer need a rocket for this cock-up, MAKE A DECISION and don't piss people around

Yesterday's cancellations were a disgrace for Capital Soccer.  They put up a huge list of transfers in the morning, so the message went out to the boys, and then CS decide to can it totally, so again the message goes out to the boys... only problem is that there were still a few boys that didn't get either(!) messages, so turned up at the wrong park, for a game that wasn't on anymore.  Needless to say, they were a little p*ssed...

You know I'm p*ssed off but was it really Capital Soccers fault or did one of the councils close their grounds late.

We should'nt be laying the blame with Capital Soccer without the facts.

Yeah don't have a go at CS about it, they don't own the grounds FFS.

Yeah, fair call, not necessarily CS's fault, but frustrating none the less...

I have heard a rumour that the councils had said one game per ground, and that the grounds weren't actually closed... can anyone confirm whether this was true or false?

A rumour floating around was that the decision was made as a late decision because the amount of rain that fell yesterday after the initial cancellations meant that many grounds would have been out for up to 4 weeks if games were played on them yesterday.

With the forecast being for rain all week especially Friday can Capital Soccer and the Councils make an early decision (preferably Friday evening) this week?  Do they read these forum comments??

I would prefer to know in advance rather than have the caos we had on Sat.

Looks like all the college grounds will be out for 4 weeks then, does not look like they cancelled any grades on Saturday. Will be very doubtful if all grades are on this week with the forcast so Friday should not be a problem for Capital soccer/ councils to get it RIGHT THIS TIME and make a decision before 10.45am Saturday

Is it because the council cares more about Cricket than Football (I think so).  Im still trying to figure out why they cancelled Cap 2 last week,  anybody know why?

One college sneaked onto Miramar 3 on Saturday, did not do the ground a great service and if the council checks condition they may not play it for a while. I don't think they are protecting the cricket pitches as such but the field in general for the balance of the season. Take a look at your local rugby ground after they played Saturday. You would not want to try and play a pass over those mountains.

Dont really think the cricket season comes into their calculations. They have a good 2-3 months after soccer season before worrying about playing cricket. Wouldnt make much difference anyway, the pitches are always crap almost everywhere you go but thats another thread...bungrightknee2007-07-03 01:04:36
