Boys won for the 2nd year in a row by Western 1-0 over Burnside in final.
Girls won by Coastal Spirit 6-0 over Waimakariri Utd woot!!
Hornby Fair play trophy.
Great tournament, next year the girls tournament will be the National U19 tournament for girls with 16 team draw.
Sponsors back on board already, $7500 worth of prizes. Canberra sending two teams, it's gonna be massive.

May as well be.
Some teams will travel anywhere to win a title.
Hence Woolston Tech and Dunedin Tech going to Napier, Canberra would have been here this year but we wouldn't let them enter an U20 team.

This Tsunami piece of crap tournament had nothing on Napier one during labour weekend..they get the top teams from all round New Zealand the standard is very high. Dunedin Tech would have eaten the Tsunami tourny alive if they entered which they deffinatly wouldnt have because its a complete waste of time for everybody involved. FACT

Three for me, and two for them.

And WTF is the poing of your post - to just be a toss?

Coastal Spirit are doing something that they obviously hope to rival Napier one day, and give teams that aren't up to Napier at the moment a chance at something.

Did you get on here and rag on the Upper Hutt tourny?

Any club doing something to promote Youth Football needs support, not abuse

Thanks for your support of what was a very worthwhile event. Unfortunately, in spite of how you feel, next years event is locked and loaded with the main sponsor Tsunami Sportswear www.tsunami-sports.com already committing to sponsorship for the third year in a row. Did you actually attend at all?
The reason the tournament is held is to provide an option for the teams in the South Island who don't go to Napier to have a similar experience. Not looking to compete with the Napier event at all. Sorry the tournament threatens your shallow meaningless existence and that you have been so badly affected by it.
We would love to see some teams from the North Island who don't go to Napier come down for it and there will definitely be Dunedin teams involved next year as well as 2 from Nelson. It will only get bigger but due to facilities will max out at 32 teams next year. Sorry if this offends you in any way, keep taking the pills and good luck with your recovery .

P.S. the Western team that won this year would be better than either the Dunedin Tech or Woolston Tech teams that went to Napier. It is my ambition in the future to find a sponsor (hello www.yellowfever.co.nz ) who will host a play off game between the winners of the 2 tournaments in Wellington the following weekend as a curtain raiser to Wellington Phoenix or NZFC game. Now there's something else you can bag nuppity.

I don't know if Western would beat either Tech side but quite frankly I don't care.

What I know from stopping by the Tsunami for a couple of hours each day is there were all five fields packed to the brim with boys and girls teams for 3 days straight.  Combine that with parents, friends, supporters, marquees and food and you have a winning formula for a whole bunch of people.

So for someone who probably wasn't even there to call a successful tournament run by volunteers a piece of crap seems a little mean at the least don't you think?

True. Unfortunately can't be sorted as both teams will never meet. I made this statement based on my knowledge of the Woolston Tech team at Napier and the Western team that attended the Tsunami tournament. Only other comparison was with the Southern Spirit side that also   played here. I realise the Napier tournament has a high standard but took umbrage at your comment that the standard here was so much lower. Will be really good to see a couple of Dunedin teams here next year to test the theory. A North Island team or 2 would make it more interesting as well. And I am serious about looking at a play off game between the winners of the 2 tournaments late October. Can only be good for youth football.
